Dak just needs to be a better player.

Paying a caretaker QB that much money is just bad value.

He needs to become a playmaker and not just feast on really bad teams.

And he’s inconsistent in that regard, as is attested by the Jets and Bears game.

Wrong. Team game.

Not winning a championship doesn't mean Dak isn't worth paying. Winning a championship doesn't mean Dak will be worth whatever he wants either.

Laughable but true unless you're someone like Dan Marino - who consistently stood head and shoulders above the rest. Shrug.
It wasn’t difficult for Stafford of the Lions in 2017 signing a new deal becoming the highest paid QB in the league. Romo did the same in 2013.

Becoming the highest paid QB for one season really has no significance that they’re the best QB.

Yep, Dak desperately needs a championship to prove he's worth Stephen's love and admiration!
Fixed it for ya! . . . :muttley:

I thought we were talking about the perceptions of being a "franchise" quarterback.

Just because you get paid the most doesn't necessarily mean you're considered a "franchise" quarterback.

Besides, I'm outlining a general perception, not an absolute rule. The general perception is that unless you lead your team to Super Bowl wins, you're not a franchise quarterback. Of course, we understand there are exceptions to that perception, i.e., Dan Marino.

But, in general, the perception is real. Shrug.

Winning a Super Bowl isn’t how a franchise QB is defined. i think you might be referring to how some often describe an Elite QB.

This attachment that team success validates a QB’s value is flawed.

You want to take up a big chunk of the salary cap? You better win something.

Look at Brady, he's light years better than Dak. He took almost 10 Mill less than what Dak was offered.

#DontpayDak

Brady was also getting more than that from the team using his company. You know, circumventing the salary cap for the good of the team.

So Dak has to also play defense and special teams? Cool.

No but if your asking top 3 money you better out-perform the opposing QB on regular basis and have ability to carry team for stretches into playoffs. We saw none of that last year. I hope he runs the table but something tells me he is eating humble pie by end of year.

We all love Ware, but what did he ever win to prove his sacks were worth what he was paid? Players should always shut up about other players’ money. Did Romo deserve being the highest paid when he got a new contract? Of course he did, but if it was based on what he won, he would have never received a new contract.

Win a super bowl or be in the top 5 in QB ratings for 5 years in a row and I will pay you top dollar. Otherwise you are probably asking for too much.
