Haskins will be the starter, and maybe Smith as back up. That is a possibility. He will give it a go, maybe retire after TC. Are there any reports of him saying he wants to play. Being clear is one thing, but to want to continue to play is another.

He hasn’t played in almost 2 years and is coming off a devastating injury. He has 2 young QBs ahead of him. He’s pretty much done in Washington. Once he comes to grips with where he’s at he’ll be retiring.

The guy is 36 years old and has never been better than an average QB.

Good for him that he's healthy, but I'm extremely over this story.

Interesting development. I wish him well.

People forget Washington was leading the division when he suffered that injury.

He does. He's been training on his own, jogging, dropbacks and throwing passes.

After watching that E-60 special on his injury and recovery, I'm amazed that he was able to walk again, much less be cleared for football activities. It's a testament to his work ethic and determination that he was able to get to this point. I hope he can see it through - the guy deserves to go out on his own terms.

How? Man after seeing his leg in that documentary.... how... lol

People may question him as a QB, but I will never question his determination to play.

Dude's leg looks like beef jerky.

That's amazing he can even walk, let alone be cleared for contact.

He really ought to retire. He's already earned many millions and is very very old by quarterback standards. There's no reason for him to go on. Just retire and enjoy the healthy leg.

Some things are more important than football and i hope Smith decides to retire

If he suffers anything close to what he did before that whole leg could be in jeopardy

Not so fast........remember they also signed Kyle Allen, a starter for the Panthers last season. Go back and listen/read Rivera's initial comments regarding Haskins. He was not impressed at all with his rookie season. Leadership and maturity are two things he singled out. In fact, Doug Williams followed up with the same issues. So I'm not sure Haskins bests out Allen.

Not good news for that wasted first round pick QB (Haskins).

Am I the only one puzzled as to why the Commanders and Lions didn't draft a QB? Were the Commanders expecting Smith to come back?

No man, I think that Haskins was Little Danny Snyder’s pick in the 2019 draft. Haskins went to school with Snyder’s son and he threw a lot of TD in his last season at Ohio State... and Washington needed a QB... so Danny instructed the team to take Haskins.

So they’re going to give him every chance to succeed this year.

The scuttlebut was last year that Coach Gruden didn’t like and didn’t want to draft Haskins but because Snyder wanted him, he had to deal with it. Word is that is why he didn’t really play until Gruden was fired. Of course, when he did play... he kinda sucked.

Anyway, that is pretty much what the Commanders fans were saying last year.

I think that both Smith and Anderson (FA from Carolina that came over with Rivera) are easily better QB’s than Haskins. JMO.

Just because you can do something, doesnt mean you should.

The guy's got to live on his own terms. Maybe he needs to show himself that he can still do it to be at peace in life. Obviously retiring is in his best interest.

I did not know, or maybe just forgot, they signed Allen.
