Don't understand your reply and what it has to do w/ rating a player.

You had said that the MVP was antiquated to determine a players worth so I said those that are MVP's laugh (at that) all the way to the bank. All I've have tried to do is say that the safety position is not the position that is the primary determining factor in wining most of the teams games and therefore not worth a player and multiple #1 picks in a trade. I've tried by using different type of examples like no MVP safeties or the pay of safeties or or when coaches say they are going to build a really good defense the first go to position isn't safety. I'm all for having good players at every position, even safety but not over spending by way of draft picks to get them. The jets drafted Adams so that means that any team can draft a Adams type safety. No they don't come along every year but then the best at any position don't come along every draft either but that doesn't mean a team should over pay for a player.

If Lee could have stayed healthy his whole career,he could have been close to those guys. I know, not a safety, but same type of player, IMO.
I agree, I think he was as special a D player as the Cowboys have ever had. I found myself watching just him on replays of recorded games and his recognition and reaction was as good as I've ever seen. Too bad that the three necessary elements for a super player, mind, heart and health, he only had two.

Of all the players that the Cowboys have had since he joined the team, there is not one that fits the definition of football player better than Sean Lee. He is one that could have easily played back in the day or any era.

the Seahawks already have their QB locked up for the future. In order for the Cowboys to beat that offer they might as well put it towards trading up in the draft near the top. They wouldn't be far off.
Wilson has 1 maybe 2 yrs left in SEA. They'll trade him

Maybe I've consumed too much happy juice, but My take is....
Da Jets....Get rid of a disgruntled player, they have a young QB who may or may not be the future, they have a year to decide whether or not He's the real deal, if He is, they have extra picks to build a team around Him, if He's not, they have extra ammo to go hunt for His replacement (merry Xmas Mr Lawrence?).
Da Squawks....Improved a talented team led by a legit MVP candidate franchise QB in His prime, the price was steep, but the effects won't be felt for a couple of years and their chances of winning the SB just increased for at least that long.
Da 'Boys...Didn't mortgage the future, with a new coach and a QB playing on a franchise tag, probably a wise move.
I want your happy juice!

I don't necessarily disagree w/ you, I simply disagree that using an MVP award is the means by which to determine this. MVP awards are most obviously biased toward certain positions, making the use of it in that manner inaccurate.

What you said has some truth in it. Although there were a couple of defensive players that were NFL MVP's. Maybe I should have use defensive player of the year which Adams didn't receive either. Since that award started in 1971 there have been only 4 safeties to receive it and that's in 49 seasons and of all of the safeties mentioned here as to why it's OK to over spend for a safety were Reed and Polamalu were 2 of those 4 and Adams isn't either of them.

It's not Jerrys personal money, it's the Cowboys money and future. What Seattle paid was ridiculous for a safety. Besides, it wouldn't have guaranteed a Super Bowl win anyway.

It gives them a much better chance. But hey...we saved money! I'd be happy to bet our "future" if it meant a Super Bowl this season.

Theres been talk about this for awhile now. As several reports have come out. Read and you'll know, I guess it's just easier to be a dbag

Ah yes another person would believes that all the unsubstantiated speculative rumor reports that sportswriters write as click bait without any direct quotes from anyone involved with what they are reporting is just gobbled up as gospel written in stone positively irrefutable truth.

If you think adding a safety is what would push the Cowboys to a Super Bowl then you need to invest in two books, football 101 and Cowboys football 101. No safety, not even if he was really Clark Kent will cover all of the other issues the defense has, but doing that trade would prevent the Cowboys from being able to address some of those other issues thus making it take longer to get that Super Bowl.

Jamal Adams is a great player no argument there, but the price Seattle payed was extraordinary and rather surprising.
Jets got a haul in return and its not like Bradley McDougald is a trash throw in,, we would be overjoyed as Cowboys fans to have
McDougald, easily our best safety.
So just saying the Jets banged this ball out of the park.
Even so, the Jets will find a way to screw it up
