No he can't. New CBA prohibits hold outs. I believe this is the last year a player can hold out.

ok did not know that. I thought that was in place to prevent 5th year options from holding out. Did not know it applied to this also.

I believe it's any player next year. The players had to give that up to be able to smoke weed without and fines or suspensions.

and be done with it.

Guy is a top 7 QB in the league and top 3-5 if you remove those that are close to retirement (Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, etc;)

If you do not see the difference between Mahomes and Dak...then YOU put up the money yourself. Since you are such a big tough smart guy.

Show us the trophy Dak heroically earned. Oh no wait Mahomes just drove the bus. Okay.....still YOU pay up since you want him so grandly paid.

Oh you can;t. Lol. Rich.

Dak doesn't want a Mahomes deal. He wanted a shorter one. The Cowboys were the ones who wanted more years.

If Dak and Mahomes were the same player, this could be true, but no self-respecting non-homer would ever put Dak above Mahomes.

That's not a slight on Dak, he's a good QB, but Mahomes is 24 and has a ring.
..that's the unfair conundrum towards Dak. Mahomes is only 24 and SB win. Hard fact staring in the mirror.

It still blows me away after two years of reporting and every other thread on here about Dakscontract that people still don't understand it.

The FO would have went back to the table with him after year 3 or 4. They wanted to use the 5th year to extend him and spread the money out on the next contract if there was to be one. That should have told Dak they want him for the long haul...

He had to already know this. The last year is usually restructured to accommodate an extension. I assumed he just wanted it a year earlier.

It's not prohibited. The penalties make it harder to do. I think players don't get an accrued season if they don't show up for camp by the deadline. Fines are also not forgiven. But they can still hold out. That's the last I heard. They keep revising the CBA so I don't know if anything changed.
