Last I heard he wants 10+ million per year. That's getting close to Earl Thomas money. I would prefer we spend that on a RDE.

Clowney won't sign for that but Griffen probably would. I think we're staying away from Griffen because of the drinking problems he's reportedly had. We already had Smith and Gregory (might not even get re-instated) so we're overloaded on those types at that specific position.

If Clowney would play for that I would rather put the money there but I highly doubt he would. We were in the Jamal Adams sweepstakes so we definitely have interest in proven talent for the position and if we're going to have the cap space I prefer to use it on a position of need like safety.

Woods would be great inexpensive depth at both safety spots. But if either of our current starters at the position get hurt we are looking at Donavon Wilson and Darian Thompson.

I know everyone wants a safety. But, no one was talking about Logan Ryan as a safety until this article came out. No one has been interested in Logan Ryan at his asking price for a reason. He's only now a "safety" because his agent told everyone he is, and NO, he is not cutting his asking price in half. I'm sorry, but you can't just make stuff up. Logan Ryan is NOT worth 10m per year, especially not as a safety. That's not how this works.

The man is a FA, had 113 tackles, 4 forced fumbles and 4 INT's as a CB.

He says he's a safety first and his stats and initiative when it comes to tackling shows up.

We don't have to give up any draft picks, the man has 2 SB rings and has been sitting out there until now.

Let's bring this guy in for a look.
No thank you. See, it's not hard to not look at Logan Ryan.

Because there's nothing to suggest he'd be any good at it. He had those 100+ tackles because he gave up so many completions.

If you could get him real cheap, sure, take a flyer. But it's not like they're missing out on him.

There is a reason why a fa is still on the open market in the month of August. He wants to get paid and isn't willing to take less. He is an ok player, more of a nickel, slot CB at this juncture, not so much a safety. Would you give 10 million a year for a sub-package player?

.

That is the question to ask about Logan Ryan. Is he a proven talent at the safety position? Obviously, teams up to this point do not think so at least with respect to his asking price.

Do you want Logan Ryan at $10 million?

My personal opinion is that the name guys still out there are out there because they want to be. They always wanted more money than is reasonable, and now they are on the fence about training camp and COVID-19, whether to play or sit out, whether to do camp or not when there may be no season. I think it’s the perfect storm to just sit out there with these huge salary demands and wait on a desperate team to offer them crazy money. This crazy 2020 in particular, I don’t think the players still out there feel any urgency to compromise or come off their numbers. Stay away!

That works both ways. I'm sure owners are reluctant to shell out 10 million dollars on a 1 year contract when there may not even be a season.

Clowney has already turned down over 15 mil.

Stop with the two expensive. Salary cap has never been an issue. It’s only the fans that make it an issue. Other than that you can discuss it

I wonder if the bonuses they’re going to pay players goes against the. Not that it matters just curious
