How can anyone still defend what we had coaching wise after this offseason?

The fact we have brought in a more experienced and proven HC allowing him to bring in his own staff with the exception of Moore should provide some renewed hope.

It shouldn’t be a slam on Garrett who hands were mostly tied and why I labeled him our Greatest Puppet. It is what it was.

Unfortunately the Football Idiot and his Cheapskate Son are still running Cowboys Football continuing to offer up their meddling and distractions while still being the biggest obstacles and handicaps to overcome . Much like Parcells encountered the last time we hired a proven HC which should leave us all cautiously excited.

All we have to ask is what could wrong? Lol

Watching yesterday’s training camp press conference offered me all I need to know with both Jones in why this franchise has struggled regardless who our coaches were this era.
I’m with you Diehardblues, a tiny bit optimistic but mostly skeptical because of the same Owner- GM

the release of garrett and even witten were jerry's last links to the product on the field. it's all stephen's now. the players, the coaches, the scouting dept. jerry is like sears, jc penney and montgomery wards. once the nation's stalwart retail giants in days of yore, all crushed by new leadership. the title of gm is now just a paper title. there's a new sheriff in town and his name is stephen.

Sounds awesome. I mean, that description truly does "sound" awesome.
But then shouldn't the entire press conference have kinda been filtered through the New Boss(es)? I mean, shouldn't Steven and Big Mike kind of have fielded all questions Cowboys related and looked directly into the cameras while speaking in a unified tone of solidarity vice the same side glancing looking for approval stares from daddy and Mr. Jones when they did talk?

I mean for a supposed paper GM and all, I didn't come away thinking there was any shift in power from the status quo after watching that press conference.

Gotta be my dang show me glasses again, I'll hafta check the focus on them again and get back with ya...The optics gotta be off I tell ya, lol.

The age of these vets and the quality is what has changed. It’s a total 180 from what we were doing. Remember everyone had to be younger than 28 before? That didn’t work out. This is all Mike and him getting with McClay and telling him what he wants.
McCarthy is on video stating that when McClay asked him what type of player that he wanted, Mike told Will to just find the best players that he can and that he would put them in the best situation that maximizes their talent.

He's still the owner . He talked about operational events. I.e., the season, fans in the seats, not nuts and bolts issues regarding coaching and player sf. He spoke of how the cowboys would deal with the kneeling issue with grace. Glean from that what you will. My opinion of the new situation is based on the body of work over the last few years, not just a single virtual press conference.

I replied, respectfully as always but a message says my answer in under moderator review. It's possible another poster reported me for reasons i can't understand. I can guess who it was.

Exactly. Instead of the square peg round hole method of his predecessor

I get that a lot because of a word, not a cussword, triggers something in the system that they want to look at it before it becomes viewable by all species, members and guests.

I wish you'd stop that "respectfully as always" crap and unload a 55 gallon drum of scientific whoopass on someone.

Bro,
Me and you are cool, no worries.

But my gleaning from this still sitting GM/owner is that the priority of marketability/popularity of his brand is still as of equal importance or more so as to fielding a championship contender team.

I just have not bought into the whole process of these supposed hands off incremental improvements because the credit addiction he suffers from will ultimately undo any observed improvements in the long run.

Trotting out Stephen as his parrot can be misleading. Don't be fooled. Daddy is still the Oz behind that curtain.

If you put enough people in a room and ask them: Is the earth flat? One of them will say yes.

Do you take that opinion seriously and engage that person in debate or do you just walk away rolling your eyes?

As far as profitability/marketability, jerry still reigns supreme. I totally agree with you on that. But when it comes to player development, player acquisition or contracts, Stephen is now the man imo.

I'd want to know why he/she thought the world was flat. Even degreed scientists thought cern would create a black hole that would swallow the earth.
