Can we lock up Jerry Jones instead for crimes against football?

I think Dak trusted Mr. France a little too much until it was a little too late.

I may be wrong. If he doesn't move on from him, I'm definitely wrong.
Cowboys didnt want to do a 4 year deal. that was daks line in the sand and he wouldnt budge like he said he wouldnt. The jones' just didnt believe him i guess. Didnt matter what the numbers were

Was about to say pretty much exactly that.

I find it amusing that the sports media is still trying to make this a sports controversy, while most fans are pretty content with Dak having to prove himself on the franchise tag.

I like Dak, I'm perfectly fine with him being the Cowboys QB for years to come if he continues to improve steadily and helps this team win. That said, if the offer he got wasn't enough for him, then I think it was definitely the right move that Dak is under the tag.

Why haven the C'boys locked Dak up? Because they're waiting for him to prove himself?! o_O

They're currently saving $$ for what they already realize may be a pretty costly signature!

Mike Florio sure seems like an asshat.

Cap is projected to go down by a chunk next year. Why do they assume Dak will get paid more?

I see market prices going down in a year of declining cap that squeezes free agency contracts.

Cowboys could tag Dak, and go to the draft looking for a QB. Find one, rescind the offer, and have a monster of a team and a low cost QB. Hit on the QB, and it's contender status for his rookie contract.

Might even get a quality veteran QB on the cheap while drafting young guys.

In a declining market, with the Cowboys *decreasing* their offer, does Dak take it, or prefer to move on out of pride?

Me, I would be seeing if I could trade Dak now, and move on this year with Dalton and a lot more cap room next year in a collapsing cap market.

Who says the cap will go down?

Stephen Jones clearly stated "Terms" is the reason they couldn't come together.

Dak wants 4 year term

Stephen wants 5 year term

This is a great game of Chicken.

High Stakes $$$$ Stephen is in a win win situation now. If Dak wins a Superbowl even Mahomes deal is doable. If Dak tanks meh....we can tag again at lower transition tag.

Cowboys have leverage once training camp starts
