The feeling is mutual bud, I bicker with a lot of people over a certain RB but putting that aside we have a lot in common, it’s especially true in the “off topic” forums.

Just because we disagree about a certain player doesn’t mean I don’t like a lot of you and I would never prevent that disagreement from liking someone I otherwise have a lot in common with. Feel free to bicker with me in the future, that’s what fans do, no hard feelings. Ask @Corso or @Ranching lol.
It's all love.

Silver lining is Skip just put a lot of eyes and ears on an area that deserves them.

I don't think should be fired for his comments. I think he should be fired in a few months because his audience has evaporated.

He stepped in a huge pile a dog doo-doo that I don't believe he saw coming. The stink is thick and the flies are swarming.
He's further damaged whatever reputation he had left as a human being.

But I would argue the point still doesn't fly. He compares QB to being the CEO of a company -- a role of leadership.

Should the man of one's household not speak up on mental health matters due to a fear of losing credibility as a leader at home? What about your boss? If he/she was suffering from this, should those feelings remain to themselves? Should our kids' principal not voice their anguish?

Quarterbacking America's Team is far from the only -- or even among the most important -- leadership roles in this country.
agree, it still doesnt fly

yeah looks like Skip flubbed the wording on that, he seems to have been trying to say it would be better to bottle that up in light of the position he is in. Now even that is a sentiment that would get a lot of flak too but that wouldnt have sounded as nasty. If he was writing that instead of speaking on tv he would have said it better
actually showing the sensitivity he did makes him a better teammate. if he bottled it up and didn't show he cares about his FAMILY, would his teammates think he cared about them? it makes him human. it makes him a person and it makes him real, that he cares......skip is stupid. he is obviouly lacking leadership or understanding what leadership is, so his comments about leadership are stupid

Skip's human? It's possible to further damage his reputation?

Glad you were able to find the help you needed and that part I bolded, that's the real troubling part of depression. They can run tests for physical problems and address that but depression is still a real challenge and the best they can do for the seriously clinically depressed is throw drugs at it and when those stop working, try something else. And the drugs treating depression can be as bad as depression. There's nothing as scary as "what's wrong with me" with no real answer. And even when people are diagnosed, the treatment is still hit and miss and too often those doing the treating don't know for sure which it is.

The wiring of the brain and treatments are still so experimental that we herald Prozac as the first line until they discover it can spark homicidal and suicidal thoughts in young people. A drug designed to treat clinical depression that has the side effect of suicidal thoughts is a sign they've got a lot of work to do.

Thank you for this post...I hope everyone else reads this. I treat my ptsd with medical weed. I stopped all the pharma stuff long ago. I'm a Navajo Indian at least for me...something grown in the nature instead of mixtures of who the F knows? There are so many other benefits of herb, and not just to go out and be all stupid...lol. When I decided to stop taking pills and just smoke some weed and go jam with my band, much better...

the sitting around feeling in some froggy daze because of some...pill that any doctor will give you, if you want to be stupid...

I have zero problems with what he was saying. He is right in that when you are the leader, you cant show weakness in public.

Imagine a military leader showing weakness to his troops that he is supposed to be leading?

i know it is horrible to compare military with football, but....
All he is saying is that as the QB of a team, especially the Cowboys, you dont go public with it. Thats all... dont go public because you cant show weakness. The position comes with a built in pressure. You can have all the issues you have, but DONT go public with it. I know in today's world we are supposed to be sensitive and all, but some things you can keep quiet about.

Since when is saying you suffered from depression sign of weakness? What planet do you live on? Depression is not a sign of weakness.

Off topic but did you grow up around Farmington? and I couldn’t agree with you more, the day I retire I’m all over it, so much better than the crap I take now just to get to sleep due to some sort of sub conscious anxiety I have the night before I work.

He is kinda the strongest QB around if you think about it. Doesn't miss games at all. I imagine he could kick any starting pro QB's anus in a fight, for example of comparison. Who is really going to think of Dak as weak because of what he said?

Exactly. Dak likes to run the ball, runs like a FB and has runs where he looks for contact. How many of the other QBs have done that? How many QBs of the last 30 years have done that?

These attitudes about mental health are why the suicide rate in our military will never go down, at least not unless the entire country suddenly becomes enlightened enough to understand this part of health care.
Military and law enforcement suicide rates are through the roof the last few years. Mental health is huge concern in this country and it doesn’t get the attention that it needs to

what is the big fuss about .? skip is right , The whole world faces much challenges and tribulations. This soft culture sympathy is conducive to a culture condoning weakness and underachievement.
losing family member is sad , but move on man , Dak is one of the last to complain . He seems to know little about actual suffering going on , especially after covid . He has to show more toughness , stop sulking and stop the excuses.
You say stupid stuff a lot.....this one takes the cake though. Congrats....you've raised the bar.......:banghead:

lol woo boy, what a piece of crap.

"I don't have sympathy for (Dak) for going public about his depression."

Sympathy, why would he even want sympathy. Do you know how many people talk to counselors today. It’s not the same thing as a psychiatrist. And he’s not married. So wife can’t help him

The guy lost his brother. People are stupid. Seriously! I don't hate Skip like a lot of people do, but he's way off base here.

Yeah normally I'd just take him for what he is.....this even seems low especially since he's suppose to be the "pro Cowboy" analyst.....

must have missed Dak interview over the depression , he was simply grieving and in a bad place, havent heard an clinical depression being mentioned.. People grieve and have a right to grieve in their own way..

ski[ is tool for saying this in public and I realize his intent was basically an insensitive man up accusation that he needed to put it aisde and his team needed him..

bad form skip!!

PS BTW did Skip say this when Jordan have an awful time trying to cope with his fathers loss..we are talking one of the biggest sports figures in history that a family member passing nearly made him quit basketball for good..

He couldn't be around it because he knew how much it mean tot his father and his father was at every game..

so he retired to play baseball it hit him so hard..

did Skip mock Jordan?
