should have been a rebuild in the offseason. IT was the perfect time. Now they saddled the organization with a retread head coach who seemingly conceded to Jerry on Moore immediately, have a lousy defensive coordinator who has not really produced positive results in years.

Then they went and paid Cooper which was insane, signed a couple of old defensive players and are about to destroy the cap paying the quarterback who after 3 years starting in the sec and now his 5th year starting in the nfl essentially plays exactly the same.

They blew it. They had an opportunity while the chips were down and contracts were up at the end of last season to step back a bit....hire a good young coach and put together something new. Matt Rhule was perfect, not that he would coach for the Jones family I imagine.

now they are teetering on the Dave Campo years. Lose sunday and then at seattle and this thing is in big trouble. Especially after seeing how well cleveland's offense can play at times. I imagine the browns are coming in here 2-1 in two weeks. Lose that game and this organization is at a low they have not experienced since the hopeless campo years.

anyway from April to August the organization pumped sunshine about how talented they are because of the wr group. Now they have to actually play football and it looks pretty bleak.

speaking of Talent, Atlanta has ten number ones on offense and five number ones on defense. Seems they are the more talented team.
Rhule was in my top 2 choices. His college teams always played smart, physical football. He also has a reputation for being a player's coach and he has NFL chops/ league-wide respect. He was the low key smart pick. But after the Garrett experiment, Jerry was hellbent on getting a coach with NFL head coaching experience so I doubt he ever seriously considered Rhule.

I would have let Amari walk, particularly after his no-show in Philly last season. You don't pay him and draft Cee Dee when you already have Gallup and a 100M running back in the fold. This is ridiculous resource management when you have so many other holes elsewhere. It's going to be interesting to see what they do with Aldon Smith after this season if he ends up being the best player on the defense. They will probably have to let him walk with all this money tied up on the offense.

There are so many holes on this team moving forward (LT, LB, S, DT, TE), it's starting to feel like a mini-rebuild is coming if we don't succeed this season.

Hasn't it already started? Supposedly we had 2 Pro Bowl-level wide receivers, but drafted another receiver in the first. Surprise availability or not, there were other good players at needed positions available - like OT. Now Diggs is our starting cornerback opposite Awuzie. For all the enthusiasm for Lewis, Brown, etc. they couldn't beat out a rookie who didn't even play a single pre-season game. Inserted Connor Williams at guard, now a starter in his third season, rather than pick up a veteran for a short term fix.

Of course teams replace players all the time, but you gotta wonder...

Can MM scheme this to avoid a repeat?

Neither of those guys are on the team. I'm sure Atlanta would love to repeat that, but Dallas also knows that, if they try to use the DEs to attack our tackles look for lots of inside runs, passes to the flat and screens. If Moore is smart enough to figure that out, that is.

Hey can I call plays this game?

:lmao2:

If this team can not overcome injuries, it was not very good to begin with. I guess a lot of people forget that when McCarthy’s pack won the SB in 2010, they had a ton of injuries.

Yes, we have a lot of key players injured. But the measure of a team isn’t how good they are with all their players, but how good they are with some missing.
McCarthy had more than 3 weeks to learn the team that year. BIG difference this year. This isn’t Madden where you scheme your way with 70 OVR players

at what point will MM be "alarmed" if THIS doesn't do it? The oline is a mess. The dline interior guys suck and simply are not NFL caliber at this point. Our linebacker group are over hyped and unwilling tacklers. Not to mention NOT GOOD ENOUGH to be every down starters. Those are the facts. The db's are learning on the job and we lack just 1 gifted proven playmaker on D. Until we see a guy do it consistently and be that guy, then we dont have one.

We should honestly consider moving Connor to Swing Tackle next year and letting McGovern start at guard.

Give Tyron one more year and then let CWill take over the RT spot and move La’el to Left tackle

We have too many holes on defense to be drafting an OL early AGAIN

Remember when a gimped up Rodgers beat us, playing with a crap Ol? Now is the time for Dak to step up and do the same against the falcs. No excuses anymore..I'm tired of losing.
Uh, remember the DL the Cowboys had for that game?
