The Seahawks lost to the 5-win Cardinals last season. They lost to mediocre 9-7 teams. They needed overtime to beat the Bucs at home last year. They're not unbeatable.
We both lit up Atlanta to beat the same team at home. The Seahawks' win was by a wider margin (not surprising if you look at the turnover differential), but still.
Seattle won 38-25 against with the Falcons with what was effectively a massive plus-6 turnover differential (zero giveaways except allowing Atlanta to steal a possession with a successful onside kick... versus 1 INT, 1 fumble recovery, 4 turnover on downs, and 1 turnover on a failed FG).
We overcame what was effectively a nightmare minus-4 turnover differential (zero turnovers by Atlanta except allowing us to steal a possession with a successful onside kick... versus 3 fumble recoveries and 2 turnovers on down). We only gave up 14 more points to the same offense. But considering an entire 23 of their points came on drives that followed a turnover by us, it's shocking that we only allowed 14 more points than Seattle did.
We just need to do what we need to do, and we'll be a handful for any team.
On offense: Protect the ball. Don't let the o-line replacement(s) spiral and torpedo us.
On defense: wake up the pass-rush that was supposed to be good this year. And, hope against hope, have Nolan do the thing that was seemingly the entire basis of his hiring, and take the ball away some.
