He’s not worth the money in my book, but only because of the position he plays. He’s a great all-around back, though.
No one is worth that kind of money to play a game, really.

It’s not just a game. It’s sports entertainment at the highest level. A multi billion dollar business we all contribute to.

You don’t have a problem with actors and artist earning hundred of millions with their craft do you ?

Do you watch any other teams? Do you play fantasy football? If you did, you would know all the back around the league and what they have been doing.

Heck Aaron Jones had 240 total yards and 3 TD's last week. When was the last time Zeke had a game like that? Aaron Jones had 19 TD's last year.

Much more dynamic RB's out there. And then there is always Mcaffrey. You would basically have to be asleep the last two years if you think Zeke is better than McCaffrey.

Derek Henry and Zeke are similar backs, Henry is just better at the power game then Zeke. And the guy is a home run hitter. Henry is everything Zeke isn't. Once they figured out what they had in Henry he has made Zeke look like a chump.

Kamara can score from anywhere on the field, anytime. You want me to keep going?
Other teams....yes. usually all sunday games. Monday night....if it's good game. Same for thursday. Fantasy football...not at all interested. Again, you're entiled to your opinion. I'm not trying to convince you or belittle your pov. I think zeke's the best. You don't have to agree. But you won't change my mind.

Remember most of these players ( about 80%) make less than a million a year. Chump change for a career that averages less than 5 years.

Only 10% of amateur athletes make it professionally.

If you finished in the top 10 of your class you could be making 6 figures.

That’s what I figured. Fantasy forces you to analyze the entire league and watch everyone.

Yea , fantasy has ruined how fans watch the games and follow teams rooting for players or teams they’d otherwise not be interested in.

It’s a league based mainly on offensive key players individual stats and team defense .

If an individual has great stats they could view him as a much more talented player than he actually helps their team win. It’s called Fantasy for a reason. Pure entertainment.

I’d say Roger was most valuable on that team. Dorsett might have been most talented.

Probably Emmitt on 90’s team. We won games without Troy but only time without Emmitt 0-2.

Dak is probably most valuable on this team. Aren’t winning many games without him but he’s not the most talented player.
Uhhh, hello Greg. You don't become valuable unless you've got talent.

Plus, the title of this thread is stating Zeke is the best player on the team. Totally disagree. Dak is the best player.

I didn’t say he didn’t have talent. Just not the most talented at his position.

Id argue Martin is the most talented at his position on the Cowboys. A perineal 1st team All Pro since his Rookie season.

I did. :D Honestly, I cracked the 6 figures in my 20's, and realized life was easier without it. I prefer family, and time to spend with them.

You’ll end up earning more in your lifetime than the majority of NFL players . And without all of the lingering body ailments.

He’s worth every penny he gets. He single handedly demoralizes the defense with his punishing runs. The whole team feeds off that.

We can agree to disagree. I’d have taken the CB or the DE, if he’d been available, or traded back with that top-5 pick. And I’d have avoided having to overpay the RB position on a second contract and spent the money on defense. You can readily find a starting RB with a top-100 pick. There are other positions that are much harder to fill. It’s a better use of limited resources to spend premium draft capital on the rarer positions.

That said, hitting on your draft picks is most important. We definitely hit on Zeke, at least.

This is just not true.
Zeke's overall ability very much effects games.
His pass blocking alone is worth a ton.

You don't replace Zeke with a RB.
You replace him with a RB who can run, a TE who can block and a slot back who can break tackles in the open field.

This is one of the ways analytics has been misused.

TOP RB are all getting paid in that 13-15M AAV. They have a very definite value and impact on winning.

It is true, though. Zeke’s really valuable in pass protection. He’s an underrated threat in the passing game, too. Like I said, he’s an all around great player. We hit on the pick. That’s important. But the opportunity cost was the chance at hitting on a player at a much more valuable position. And the replacement cost on RB just isn’t that high.

There are roles for TEs who can block and slot backs who can break tackles and impact the passing game on every team in the NFL. That isn’t an issue in Dallas just because we also committed to spending too much draft capital and cap on a RB.
