The sad part is that the Dak haters have been so obnoxious these past few years that the people who like Prescott associate Dalton with those haters and will now be (either consciously or subconsciously) pulling against Andy to succeed.

All except the worst will no doubt be pulling for the team to win,... but every Dalton miscue will be called out here and thrown in people’s faces. Laughter and sarcasm will abound.

Andy will have done nothing to deserve the vitriol except take a cheap deal, support Dak and do his job when called upon. However, a whole faction will be highlighting every mistake and laughing at those who support Dalton.

They’ll essentially be doing what all of the Dak haters have been doing that pissed people off so much.

Will it be deserved by those that didn’t like Dak? Probably. Will it be a shame to see it happen to a guy like Andy? Yes it will. I’ll hate it just as much as I hated seeing Dak drug over the coals.

Don't worry. Now that someone who looks like Dalton has replaced Dak, the dumber contingent of our fanbase will suddenly notice that our defense is historically bad and our o-line is full of backups. Excuses that didn't exist or apply for Dak will magically materialize shortly.

It's gonna be wild to watch all these idiots discover we have problems anywhere other than QB.

If Dalton plays well enough and gets the Boys into the playoffs, Dalton will be back as the starter, it is a no brainer.

If Dalton plays awful, Dak holds on to his asking price and the nonsense stops.

You do realize Dalton could get us into the playoffs and
A: not have beaten a winning team
b: and have a losing record

I dont think that gets him the starting position. If he plays as well as Dak and wants to play for less money, there is now reason why the FO shouldn't consider that seriously and at least tell Dak you have conmpetition so what would like to do. I am all for that for sure!

That is correct. Boys in the NFC East helps, but they still need to win some games to advance into the playoffs and those wins will have to come from mostly the offensive side of the ball.

But, Again the opposite is also true if Dalton falters, Dak will be back.

the alternate question to be asking is would we have been better if all the fumbling, INTs, and untimely OFFENSIVE penalties that put us behind the chains all the time as well as the ST coach making his risk call, and lets not forget passing on an easy FG to tie the Rams game , would getting half those mistakes back had us at 4-1 maybe 3-2 ? I mean they all created horrible situations for this already poor defense

the short fields , quick turnaround and wearing the defense out even further having to defend more possessions etc , why do we keep sugar coating that?

Ive said this many times the last 4 weeks and get defensive reactions saying the defense is historically bad and it wont change,, really i saw the defense truly only give up 20-21 points against the Giants, against the rams who have score more against other in a much cleaner game , only gave up 20, look at all the points caused by

Muffed KR by pollard
the penalty on the ST that was a punt called back and they run back out and kick a FG thats 3 points
the pick 6 was 7points

the fumbled snap what was that a fg or TD cant remember..
we can go back every game and see whole the defense is Bad they arent as bad as the final score wants to say it was..

look deeper not only are points given up by the offense momentum. , play calling ,many things changed due to all these mistakes..

clean this crap up and we have chance to go 7-4-/8-3 down the stretch, win the division get to the playoffs maybe playing very well with shot..

this was full team, including coaches ,including injuries' , effort having he ugly start we've had this year..theres 11 games to go to get it corrected..i say it can happen.
very good post, but most fans wont get it, they just look at total scores, total yds etc.
I said similar things as you about defense, but only a few gets it.
plus if dallas moves the ball on the other team for a score, dallas has a great offense, but if their offense moves the ball on our defense,
then our defense sucks lol.

Good question....I answer, No.
1. No offense is ever going to play a perfect game.
2. I hope Dalton plays lights out.
3. None of it will matter in the W-L column unless our defense improves significantly. Right now our offense must score 30+ points in every game just to be in striking distance and hope we have the ball last. That’s a terrible recipe for any success. Good teams have to be able to win a 20-17 game now and then. I cannot imagine us winning a game without scoring 30+ points. We are a very bad team with an explosive offense. That won’t get it done. Jerry and Stephen have a lot of work to do in the off-season.

IDK why anyone would expect the same level of performance from their QB2.
Would KC expect the same performance from Chad Henne if Patrick Mahomes went down?
Would GB expect the same performance from Tim Boyle that is currently ahead of Jordan love on their depth chart to perform as well if Aaron Rodgers went down?
Would Seattle expect the same performance from Geno Smith if Russel Wilson went down?
But we are Cowboys Nation, and we expect Andy Dalton to put up the same numbers that Dak put up...
I am sure that some fans can’t wait to point out that Dalton doesn’t have as good of stats as Dak has and I think it is hilarious. Dak’s stats have not translated to wins at all. Those stats came from trying to play catch-up after the poor play in the first three quarters put the Cowboys so far behind. I sure hope that Dalton don’t have the stats like Dak. Those are stats for losing games.

So you hope we run the ball and play NFL level defense....Jnday we starting to agree on some stuff here. I hope we do that no matter who the QB is, the problem is we have not...I'm not sure thats a QB issue.

The Dak haters, including myself, always wants the team to win. In contrast, the Dak lovers will explode if Dalton comes in and wins games which would prove much of the Dak criticism as being right. Some are just happy for Dak to get his stats and records and wins are considered a distant second in importance.

I hope that the team comes out with a balanced offense which plays well the entire game instead of just playing well in the 4th quarter. Running the ball is not an option when down 30 points due to poor play in the first half. I hope Dalton leads some drives which takes the time off the clock in the first half and keeps the defense off the field.

first off the bad defense is league wide issue, poor defense is far more regular then the good ones. its turning into the big 12..

so lets put that to bed, Seatle is 5-0 with a bad defense. they make less mistakes, sure no one can play perfect games but they can have less mistakes.

2017 thats easy we could have beat the rams with FG the coach passed on and then OPI called back a high play that sets us up for a win.. the defense held them to 20, where this great offense? its the same offense that didnt score in the 2nd and 3rd qtr of the seatle game..im pretty sure our offense is top 3 in not the leader in Turnovers, better they are also commit a lot of penalties that put us in 3rd and long..

does Roger have an INT this year yet? how many times has he fumbled? look im saying no one can play perfect might hold true but 5 straight games not even close to limiting the mistakes from all 4 phases.. thats the issue NOT JUST DEFENSE..

this is why this is a 4 phase issue and it all needs to be cleaned up..

the giants game is no different,

Pick 6
fumbled snap what was that 3 or 7 points
after the defense makes huge stop 4th and 16, the st goes and gives up a penalty, so the Giants jog back out and kick a FG that 3 more points

the way i see it the defense gave up like 21

look at the ATL game, sure we won but needing all the heroics and what not on the 4 TOS on offense.
.

look closely at all of them,

the PPG output they are hanging on the defense is not the reality.. sorry games turn on momentum, short fields, and easy points plus keeping your defense on the field for more possessions etc all lend to the outcomes we are seeing..

You don't have to do this, but at least a cursory self-edit would make your posts so much more readable.
