I think the culture, with Jimmy, during those Super Bowl years was... a bit different.
Jerry hadn't quite gotten his claws fully into the team yet.
I disagree I think those players just were better than what we have. There was no salary cap. They benefited from it. I just can’t buy that the culture is bad so that’s why we are bad. Patriots suck is it a bad culture?

Well, if you can't buy it, you can't buy it.
I'm not going to sell it.

He coddled them, I agree. But look back at psychological edge Jimmy instilled through his coaching tactics, the accountability he put in place, the fear that mid-range to bottom-of-the-roster guys had of losing their jobs.

Valley Ranch has turned into The Star Spa & Resort.
I don’t disagree but that’s because of Jimmy the head coach. MM aint no Jimmy and IMO, a head coach should dictate the culture around a franchise. Jerry meddles. I get it. But MM is a big part of why this culture is what it is because the are losing.

See, but those were proper superstars and all teams coddle those guys.
Jerry coddles dudes like Jaylon.
Understood but that doesn’t mean the culture has changed lol. That means the level of talent has changed. Jerry has never changed how he ran this team. He’s always run the Cowboys like he runs his other businesses.

I don't know what the solution is to make this into a team but I know what I would tell Booger should he ask me what I would do.

I would suggest he take a little boat trip with the family and all the Joneses be out of the country and out of touch with the team for the rest of this season. Enjoy the holidays abroad.

I would tell McC that this is his job, do what is necessary, along with help from McClay, to get this team to come together but it is his job and he will be accountable for it coming together. As the GM, I would need to be consulted on player moves, if they deemed them necessary.

I would not tell the players until the day before departure when I held a team meeting to inform them that I will be out of the country with the family and Mike McCarthy is my HC and Will McClay is my personnel man and I will follow their advice as to what changes need to be made in order to make this a team because it is not a team now and this will not continue. If getting players out of here is necessary to make this a team, so be it. If you want out, please let Mike and Will know by tomorrow to expedite Operation Team Cowboys.

I would tell them "ya know I may pay you the bucks but the buck stops with those two gentlemen and if you want to remain a Cowboy, you have to convince them that you are worthy. And let me make one thing perfectly clear about when I return. If I ever see any player wearing that Star on the side of his helmet quit on his coaches, teammates and our fans again, I will go out onto the field to fire that individual during the game and have that person escorted from the field by security. The team is the Dallas Cowboys, not the Dallas Cowards. It made me sick to watch that so I might as well go get seasick, if that's going to be the case".

I know, I know, all y'all want me to be the owner now and that has nothing to do with my promise of free tickets, beer, nachos and a Cheerleader on every Zoner's lap. The ladies can have a day at the spa instead of a Cheerleader on their lap.

Don't even insult Mike and Emmitt with this ridiculous comparison!

You're offering a clown at RB who loves trouble and the spotlight who takes himself out after a few plays and an introvert WR who has to meditate between plays. Add to that your QB doesn't think the rules apply to him and the clown RB so he has a party with 30 people while the rest of us are in lockdown.

These guys are self entitled, spoiled brats like Ocho flashing his non-existent Hall of Fame jacket on the sidelines and TO who Parcells called 'the player.'

Mike is going to get that chance.

A good start may be to get rid of his DC buddy and hire someone where we dont need 15 new players to run a reasonably OK defense.

Exactly, cutting no impact guys on the worst defense in the league isn't really that 'tough-nosed' to me. How about getting rid of his buddy who has had a history of producing some of the worst defenses in the league, and then I'll believe the disciplinarian, 'we have to win' rhetoric. This is moreso a move of fans aren't dealing with the utter embarrassment that are the modern cowboys so we have to make some stall moves to keep the easy pay circus going.

This is the same culture that won 3 Super Bowls. That culture thing is a excuse. Cowboys need to hire a real GM.

A bit of carryover from Landry also. Mostly new guys albeit, but it's not as if the tough-minded culture he created faded away overnight. His influence would've still been felt going into the early 90s and in some respects, Jimmy just picked up the torch and carried it.

Jimmy culture was different. He ripped into his players good and bad. Cut the awful players. And made losing miserable.

The “soft” culture started with Barry Switzer.

Aikman wanted the Jimmy culture. But Jerry sided with Switzer. You can see in video below.

Jimmy was the bad cop. Aikman the good cop.

After Jimmy; Aikman had to be the bad cop because no coach would take on the role.

Maybe. I won't discount that.
It just wasn't the country club atmosphere that Jimmy himself complained about in later years than when he was in charge.
The culture was different.

But I can't make a horse drink so let it get thirsty.

I read that as a dig to the supposed captains / high paid players...Zeke, Coop, Tank, and argurably the dumbest player in the sport the one and only Jaylon Smith

How are this year's Patriots, with the first troubling season in years, a deserving comparison?
If you think the culture is fine, then fine.
I'm just asking you a question and you refuse to answer it for whatever reason lol. The Pats stink. Has nothing to do with culture and that's my stance on the Cowboys. Winning cures all. I didn't hear a thing about culture in 2014 or 2016.

What? I didn't compare them I just said that's the DIFFERENCE. They were actually talented. The hell? Its a insult to say Emmitt and Irvin and Deion were more talented than anyone on this team?

And I don't know what point you are making about TO and Ocho but you better go and youtube some old Deion videos. He paved the way for what you see lol.
