Crawford needs to go!

Crawford has been a victim of his own versatility and willingness to do whatever it takes for the team. I firmly believe he was on his way to becoming a star 3 tech when the Cowboys got the grand idea to make him a DE ostensibly to try and justify the contract. In the process they made him slim down to under 270 pounds from over 290.. He has been a stout run defender at DE but he's too slow to really make an impact as an edge rusher. Now this year coming off double hip surgery we move him back inside so now not only is he vastly undersized but he's also badly compromised from a strength and quickness standpoint. Because he has sacrificed his opportunity to be a really good player at the position he was meant to play and instead he gets to be an average to below average player out of position, in order to try and help the team I am not going to begrudge him his salary. He has done what was asked of him to the best of his ability. It's not his fault that the team has screwed up how they have deployed him. And the fun part? If he had demanded to be left at X position of Y position and not moving around all the time many of the same critics would be calling him selfish and not a team player.. It is what it is. The team should move on from him at the end of the season because it's clear his body is not going to let him play DT at any reasonable level and he was never going to be great at DE anyway.. As such he should take his 40 million dollars and ride off into the sunset. Or go play somewhere else for less money if he still wants to play. His call.

believe you have this wrong. "Currently, players are voted into the Pro Bowl by the coaches, the players themselves, and the fans. Each group's ballots count for one third of the votes." This is from Wiki.

i agree on Crawford. But i can't lay blame on Nolan for him getting rag dolled. That's physical.
May have it wrong but the alternates are not chosen by the fans. IMO fans should have nothing to with any of it in any sport.

the players can have other incentives to vote for or against so some of the weird votes could be due to that as well.

Do we really think in this time of expanded rosters and practice squads there is going to be any notable upside sitting at home? Besides, at most we would sign someone the rest of this year, and they would mostly sit on the bench or more likely the practice squad, so why not wait and sign them after the season?

Possibly but I trust the players and coaches decisions over the fans. Player actually line up and see what they are about and coaches have to scheme against the players; so IMO clearly they are more of an expert than me.

Why shut that door for someone we know can't help us?

Because doing anything with Crawford is a clear and obvious waste of time. Not only is he of zero help, but he's very clearly a liability out there. Worse than Poe, whom they cut.

Use this wasted season to sign and evaluate players who might be able to help you for the future. It's clear that Crawford doesn't. Unless you have a different view of that?

He's flying backwards on every play

Like he's playing on skates!

And even when there are plays right in front of him, opposing players easily run right by him because he moves like a glacier! the other night in the Philly game, a player ran in front of him to the right, reversed field, and ran by him again to the left, as if the guy was stuck in quicksand. Opponents are running over, around, and through him, and he shouldn't be on the field under any circumstances at this point. This is where we're at now.

I get your point, but I think it's looking for a needle in a haystack and spending unnecessary money on someone that will just be buried on the practice squad and won't be under contract for next year anyway. And, while I agree Crawford isn't really contributing, is there any realistic expectation of getting anyone better?

But this really isn't a big issue whether keeping or dumping Crawford. No particularly notable positive or negative effect either way.

I'm talking vet minimum money here. Small potatoes considering the $9.1 million pissed away on Crawford.

I disagree with that. Getting a well established liability off the field for the chance to get someone with upside is very positive.

No sugar coating

It actually is possible, and likely, to get a worse player than Crawford by grabbing a guy that all 32 teams couldn't find a spot for even with expanded rosters and practice squads.

How many guys that couldn't even make a normal sized practice squad ever made a difference, much less one who couldn't even make a expanded practice squad?

The old saying "he can't be any worse" is a comment born out of emotion, not reality. There is always worse out there, and the guy sitting at home is probably that guy.

So I'll stick with what I said about there not being a notable positive or negative either way. A new guy would be buried on the practice team, so he would not provide benefit even if he had some upside, which is incredibly unlikely anyway. If dropped to the bottom of the depth chart, Crawford would not be a liability on the field, he would just be another seldom used backup player. Accordingly, no notable difference.

$20M for this chump the past two years. No rational explanation for just wasting valuable cap space on this loser.

Jerry could have paid him to bartend on his yacht if he likes him so much.

I'd never refer to Crawford as a victim. How many nfl players play out a full 5 year contract at his level of play? Lol

No, you could have a blank roster space that could put up zero stats.

And you wouldn't be getting stupid penalties either.

Again, don't try to sugar coat this absolute **** show.

Unfortunately for him injuries have cost him too many games. He's gotta be right up with Sean Lee in that regard. When he was healthy and playing his natural position dude was ballin. That's why he GOT the big contract. But he has pretty much not been allowed to play his natural position since signing that deal. Sure he got his money.. but I don't think for one second he has been happy being a lower third JAG DE when he was an upper third DT at worst with potential to grow into an upper tier guy.

He should've been released with Poe and Worley. Sure.. They sucked but they scapegoated those 2 out of town like they were the only problems. lol

He played a season low snap% vs Washington but was back as a starter vs Philly which was odd although the choices are limited.

Hope it was just the lack of bodies, and Crawford's snaps get reduced soon. The only point of putting him on the field is a lack of bodies ready to go, whether to a game or in a game. Let him rest players. Other than that, just get him off the field. He is so done.

There's not even a hope of getting a comp pick out of him.
