Unfortunately we're going to tank this season whether we like it or not! We're halfway through the schedule with a 2-6 record and not looking like we can win another game down the stretch. Unless the Texans and Jags tie this weekend we will be climbing up to no.4 in the draft order and I certainly don't see us slipping any lower than that before the season ends.

Giants will beat us and I assume they’ll win one more. Texans plays the Jags once more. I see us finishing the year at 3 behind Jets and Jags

This is a painful article to read but unfortunately its the truth!

It’s over folks. Let me give it to you straight. I really don’t care that the Cowboys have an easy stretch of games after they host the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. Or that the rest of the NFC East is just as weak.

Without the team’s true MVP in Dak Prescott, the Cowboys are just a stepping stone for other squads. Dallas is the NFL piñata, a punching bag that gives other teams time to practice and sharpen their knives.

Harsh? Yeah. But the Dallas Cowboys deserve it. When you leave Andy Dalton on the field, dazed and confused from a needless, unmeaningful hit, you deserve all the bad rap that goes your direction.

At this point, the Cowboys are doing one thing right. The team is unbelievably synced up on all three phases of football, providing nothing but embarrassing football for all to witness. I mean the Cowboys are so consistent in poor play that you almost feel sorry for them.

As it stands now, the best hope I can claw from this 2020 campaign is pulling in a high draft pick. Yes, I am canceling the Dallas Cowboys chances for the rest of the year. And if you haven’t followed this prescription already, you’re in for a lot of hurt and misery.

Amen Ranch, I’m with you 100%. It’s disappointing to see so many fans that give up so easily.

Yeah I can't root for a loss, but I understand the frustration. Just ride it out and see what happens I suppose. I'm in for the long haul.

I'll never subscribe to hoping the team losses games. Some players may never play another year. Or any other crazy **** may happen - it is 2020 after all.
I didn't in 1989 when we won a single game and I won't now. I don't care about draft position because this dumb *** front office will just draft another WR in the 1st and a bunch of potential stars with injury histories, well, because of the potential value - blah blah blah.

But this season is different. We may not even need to hope for losses. They just keep coming.

He's just now figuring out this season is over? :muttley:

It was over when Dak's ankle broke. Only those who had an imaginary version of Andy Dalton in their heads thought otherwise.

Tanking implies an intentional act. Lets not pretend this team has a choice in winning or losing. The rest of the season should be treated like an open try-out to see who has heart and who can play. Thats what Jimmy Johnson did on his way to a 1-15 inaugural season.

Tank all the way home. Endeavor for Trevor.

If we get the #1 pick we trade it for draft picks. Trevor is not blowing me away and we already have a great qb on the roster. We need lots of new bodies on D just to make us average!

I just heard a report not much more than an hour ago that Dalton has covid. Think it was fish.

And if what you say is true about not starting Dalton, then cut him.

It was announce back on Tuesday that Dalton tested positive and has to be on the covid-19 list for at least 5 days and pass 3 tests. Again I'm not a Dal;ton fan but no team cuts a 10 year vet, 9 of them as a starter and leave themselves with QB's with a total of 5 games of NFL experience. Again cutting Dalton would very likely make the league believe the Cowboys were intentionally tanking and start taking draft picks in next years draft, stating with the 1st round. I'm just as frustrated and angry about this season as anyone but to start doing things that have even the remote look of tanking will only hurt the Cowboys not help them.

A solid approach. One I will admit does make sense. Just not one I agree with. Not one I would take. I'd go with the top prospect on a rookie deal for 5 years. Mainly because Dallas isn't going to be able to pay most of the players they trade back for after paying our QB. A lot of first rounders are great, just can't pay them all.

Reminds me of 2015 when the season was over in game 2. People just couldn't believe it.

Seems 'Hadenough' - and numerous other fans look at this 2020 season as an outlier - instead of truthfully recognizing it as the continuation of a downward spiral.
2019: who amongst us didn't pencil in the Cowboys going 3-1 vs. AFC East,
4-0 vs. NFC North (Packers game was at AT&T Stadium), splitting the two NFC intraconference games (which did happen), and going 5-1 vs. division rivals.
WALLAH _ 13-3, NFC East Champs, NFC No. 1 Seed for the playoffs.
INSTEAD : 8-8

And now to 2020: a season that began with a winnable game that resulted in a somewhat respectable loss - that then spiraled down to unfathomable play that should have been an 0-4 start before the starting QB was injured.
Now - with all the many \ significant injuries since the gifted wins against the Falcons and Giants - - -
the Cowboys don't have to think about tanking --the team will lose outright the remaining 7 out of 8 games because Dallas is that bad - talent-wise, Monday-Saturday preparation, game-day mentality. When the season record winds up 2-14or 3 -13....don't attach "purposely losing =tanking" for this result.

They started thinking about tanking in week 1. It seems like every game we've played we're down by double digits in the 1st quarter, I mean if this isn't tanking I don't know what is.............

Yes tank for a top 3 pick and trade it to the Jags or Dolphins

The funny thing is, we aren't tanking. We're just horrible. The defense can't really play consistent, coaching has been bad, and our offense without Dak is worse than.. I don't know. It's just bad. I do think our kicker has been solid this year.
