this wasn't a national campaign to seriously give an unknown qb a nickname. it was someone on these threads having a bit of fun. don't you get that. and as for roger, he was roger the dodger while at the naval academy. i was a freshman there his senior year. get a grip, sheldon.

Cern, first thank you for your service. I was USAF. I didn't say where the name Roger the dodger came from only that a tiny fraction of fans here didn't and if they did Staubach wouldn't be known around the sporting world by that if they did. As far as what I said about fans creating nicknames if only for use here, I've asked who one of this nicknames were and I got replies like where have you been that you didn't know that is so and so or another one was isn't it obvious who it is and my reply was obviously it not obvious or I wouldn't have had to ask. I think one of the biggest reason some here want to start a nickname is so someone can claim they started something that a very tiny fraction of Cowboys fans know that player by that made up nickname.

Guy has been in the league a decade and this is first career start. My nickname is “Tank Job”. Bring on that top 5 pick in the draft.

True, but I at least saw him in the AAF and he looked head and shoulders better than anything Dinucci did. That was one of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen from a QB. And you have proud guys still playing hard on the field...you have an obligation as an owner to give them a chance to win, to make performance incentives that increase their pay based upon team results. It isn't all about getting the #1 pick. That doesn't guarantee anything. Think about the teams that are constantly picking in the top 5...and never get any better.
