Game turned when they put Zeke back in for Pollard

Momentum seemed to have shifted.......................Cowboys were driving down the field and Pollard had just busted loose for couple of nice 18-20 yard runs. 2 more than Zeke has had in 3 years. It looked like Pollard was just primed to break one more tackle he would take it to the house.

Then they got stupid and put Zeke back in. And that's where it all stalled. If Pollard plays 80% of the game, the Cowboys win.

Anyone see the ball bounce right off stone hands chest on the 10 yard out on that final drive?

Why they continue to feature Zeke in the run game remains a big mystery.

Pollard: 9 carries for 57 yards.........6.3 average (Looked like he was just getting warmed up)

Zeke Idiot: 18 carries for 2.8 yards
Steelers practically we’re giving pollard yards..he was such a non factor. You could definitely tell Pitt wasn’t worried about pollard beating them. Pollard did okay some of those runs he had with more speed he would have taken to the house.

I don’t mean to throw a wet blanket on this idea, but the fact that we seemed to want to run Zeke between the tackles on three tight end packages and run Pollard in the spread formation might have something to do with that as well.

Maybe but what also might have something to do with it is Elliott probably isn’t an elite back at this point.

Maybe. I think he’s still elite. I’m just not sure he has his head on right and is properly motivated. But it is also possible he is slipping. He seemed sluggish earlier in the year, but is showing a bit more burst. How we are using him isn’t helping him any on his runs.

Seemed like when they wanted to stop him they did. He was TFLd on 4 of 9 carries. People get all excited because he will bust one every now and then but you cannot hang your hat on a running game that goes for negative yards 40% of the time .. Pollard had 52 yards on 3 carries.. and 5 yards on the other six. If they hand it to him 9 more times does he replicate that and get 114 yards on 18 carries? Or does he start to wear down and lose some of his starch? I'm sure he will get a chance to show which is the real him at some point this season as I expect us to rest Zeke a couple of games at the end of the year.

That’s a lie the game didn’t change then. The game changed when Pittsburgh turned up their efforts on defense our guard Connor got moved liked a child so did Erving and Steele, Looney was even being driven back at times. Stop with the complaining about Zeke Pollard is just capitalizing on the defense when they relax as Zeke goes off the field

I thought Zeke ran pretty dang well for a RB who, reportedly, had a hamstring pull. :muttley:

Sure, he may not be "elite" any more but he's still pretty good, imho. He's overpaid, tho!

What happens to Zeke’s numbers when his 3 biggest carries are subtracted?

So everyone should receive blame then how do you explain the HUGE difference in Pollards numbers vs zekes? They were both running behind the same O line last time I checked and if you watched the game it was clearly obvious which one was better. Sadly the 2nd highest paid back in the league wasn’t the one that looked better.

You’re just about out of exuses.
Aria....you don't like Zeke....in fact I think you HATE Zeke. If you want latch on to everything to blame Zeke you're doing it well. I see what I see, and you believe what you believe.
Now can you come up with something beside Zeke is the reason we got a pandemic......at some point?

Did anybody notice after Pollard looked so good Zeke came in and ran much harder? He still was a shadow of 2016 Zeke but was better then the Zeke who started the game, or the whole season for that matter.
It's obvious he's been going through the motions until he was clearly bested today.
Start Pollard, grab some pine Zeke.
