Dear Stephen,

The only answer on this subject should be "We will consider all options right up until the minute the selection is made".

P.S. - that means from now until the pick is made, you should indicate nothing about your mindset to the media or other teams.

As you guys know I'm one of Dak's biggest fans around here but I think Stephen is speaking as if he doesn't get the 1st pick. If they get the 1st pick I don't see a scenario where they don't take Lawrence. I'm like 60/40 on it. The pick should be defense but I don't trust this front office to make the right pick.

Plus, FA is not a great route for building a defense, look to this year as proof.
You can't use this year as proof when the cowboys have a flawed strategy in free agency

I could easily say look at Greenbay in 2019. They signed 3 day 1 starters in free agency and then drafted another in darrell savage in the 2nd.

Cowboys sign players either super late in free agency for cheap or sign players with flashy names because that's what Jerry likes. Cowboys go after guys like McCoy and Covington when they need to go after guys like Shelby Harris and Adrian Amos.

You can easily build the defense with an extra 30 million a year, the problem is the cowboys front office/ego can't

I'm a big Dak supporter, but if you have a chance to get Lawrence or Fields, tagging and trading Dak for a 1st and 2nd, taking Lawrence or Fields and focusing on defense after that is a scenario I could easily live with.

As it stands, the Cowboys are in position to have a top-five pick in the draft next spring, but quarterback will not be among the team’s priorities, according to Stephen Jones. The Cowboys have wanted to re-sign Dak Prescott all along and could us the franchise tag at a cost of $37.7 million. “Dak is our quarterback and we’re so fired up about him and him leading us in the future,” Jones said.

Just means more mediocre years, heck 24 years of crap results have passed so what is the big deal, Jerry likes 8-8 and mediocracy he will get a lot more with Dak..

LOL no, this is the Jones preferred way of negotiating. Then scratch head when discount not accepted.

how they hell did they become billionaires?? unbelievable that after 30+ years they haven't learned when to give the "non answer" answer.

like me walking into the dealership and sayin', I am leaving here today with that truck. now exactly how much you gonna discount it?

He just told you, as he and Jerry have done several times and will again.

This is what they do - keep the band together. They're not going to change course and seize an unexpected opportunity. They're "close", just ask them.

"We have a handshake deal in place with Dak, but I can't talk about that. I can say we will not be drafting a QB," says Little Stevie.

Dallas need to work the trenches.

RD1 Penei Sewell OL Oregon
RD2 Marvin Wilson DT Florida State

Sewell can replace Williams and move out to LT once Tyron is gone.

Easy for me. You want a vet in his prime at QB. Young, studs on defense which, if Fields is there, we will be able to get a king's ransom of picks. Plus, FA is not a great route for building a defense, look to this year as proof.

Miami strongly disagrees with your assessment. But, that's a team where the owner finally stopped making football decisions and allowed football guys to make football decisions.

Every game with at least one turnover and their FA signings have directly correlated to back to back games with a defensive TD.
