There you go, Stephen. Lay all your cards on the table early and give away all your negotiating leverage. The guy plays poker with his cars face up on the table. Even if this is what he really believes, you don’t say this.

Does anyone wonder anymore why we suck?

if you pass on defense for the best WR in 2020 then surely you can pass on defense again if the best QB is available. Don't be an ignant.

Drafting a QB would be foolish.

Way too risky.

We could end up with a Wentz or Trubisky.

Dear Stephen,

The only answer on this subject should be "We will consider all options right up until the minute the selection is made".

P.S. - that means from now until the pick is made, you should indicate nothing about your mindset to the media or other teams.
This is what a smart, well run, competent organization would say and do. But we aren’t any of those things.

As it stands, the Cowboys are in position to have a top-five pick in the draft next spring, but quarterback will not be among the team’s priorities, according to Stephen Jones. The Cowboys have wanted to re-sign Dak Prescott all along and could us the franchise tag at a cost of $37.7 million. “Dak is our quarterback and we’re so fired up about him and him leading us in the future,” Jones said.

I agree dont do it,

trade down grab 2-3 more picks still pick around 10 grab Trask and still get targeted defenders.

Thats MY GM Hypothetical fake scenario..get both a QB and defense all covered , FT dak see if he will actually play and not hold out, if he chooses to holdout you then trade him for more picks..

BTW 3 years running, Daks their guy but not signed!

so believe very little of what said in public..doesnt mean MM isnt pushing for the scenario like im describing..another QB like Trask or kid from ND around 10-12 and still have plenty of high picks for defense..

Well, great, let's just broadcast our draft strategy... I sometimes wonder if ANYONE in the NFL takes the Jones family seriously?

But Mike is definitely in charge.

Clear as mud.
the deal they made with mike is we will pay you a ton of money, truckloads of it lol, and we buy the groceries, and you coach em up!!!!!!
and we see how that is working this year lol.
And like another said, why is he even saying this stuff lol, can they not ever just shut up??

the fact that they wont even CONSIDER a QB change is what is wrong with these two wanna be GM's.
They get hung up on 1 guy be it coach, player and they just stick with them good or bad.
they will extend jaylon again lol and crawford will be here another 5 years or however long he wants to play lol.
kellen is OC forever, and only change there will be when they make him HC

And mike every day when he goes home, he goes into his money room and plays with all the money he is getting from jerry and son.

I mean to be fair if the Cowboys have a top 2 pick there is a bidding war for Lawrence or Fields (frankly I do not think they will have access to either one but weirder things have happened) which sort of means they do not need to be part of the leverage.

Can the FO leave everyone in suspense? How does us help us to telegraph our intentions?

Amateur hour with this group.
No argument from this segment of the peanut gallery.
I've harped on Stephen's propensity to say too much since he said his first words.
I have it on good authority that it was: "Plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is".

It is hard to believe these guys are billionaires lol. They just seem so much like jethro on the beverly hillbillys show. There is no jed or granny to reign them in.
