i don't understand why coaching staff Jim Tomsula is red shirting Bradlee Anae almost the same way
Reggie Robinson is being sat out this year .

Anae has been in on a few special team snaps but nuhtin major role there.

- Anae collected 30 sacks at Utah St. - so he was a sack machine there

- Anae put on impressive at Senior Bowl weekend proving unblockable in both practices and game itself

- Anae from all reports that put on another display in Cowboys training camp when he was unblockable

- Bradlee fell in draft to the 5th rd because typical scouts were wary of his poor workout numbers

i don't think its just Anae not being ready to show, because if not for the injuries of McCoy, Hill and the disappointments of Poe and Crawford, Nevillie Gallimore wouldve still been sitting the bench, instead of displaying
some ability ala Steelers .

There are times like this where these coaches that are holding back these players ......:banghead:

There are a lot of stat machines in college that don't make strong pros. I'm not saying Anae will be one of those - much too early to say - but realistically why would the team hold him back unless there was something they weren't seeing? There is no reason a coach wouldn't want to show that a player under their tutelage is progressing well.

They held back Heath behind Wilcox. Romo behind Bledsoe so on and so on. Let's not act like this doesn't happen every year in dallas. Even y'alls favorite Witten took snaps from a better player.

Whoa hold on they never held back Heath he just wasn't that good. He was of the same caliber as Wilcox. Romo was being developed. He was not being "held back" lol.

None of these is close to apples to apples.

Heath? He started 9 games as a rookie, and was terrible. Many fans never got over viewing him as that player that got burned all the time as a rookie. That's why Wilcox got a chance. They simply took a shot that Wilcox could be better, meanwhile Heath still wasn't buried on the bench. He was a situational player even then.

Romo wasn't ready early on. He looked like a deer in the headlights his first couple of preseasons, and would have been devoured if thrown to the wolves too quickly. And QB isn't like other positions where you can just rotate players in and out.

Anae is a JAG. This love affair you guys have with him......I get it if he's done something but he hasn't. Who are you taking off the field to put him on it?
ya man,, been wondering the same but you said it first and I stand behind that premise as well.
I liked the pick, but show me before you tell me... lol

How is he going to show anything when he hasn't been given the opportunities. Same could've been said about Gallimore, and look how thats turned out once Poe was cut and NG was given an opportunity. Might as well give Anae a shot.

Gallimore's example doesn't somehow automatically apply to Anae. In the end, the team has to make choices based on what they see in practice, and a player doesn't automatically have any claim to playing time simply because he is on the roster. He has to earn that time in the eyes of the coaches, and it stands to reason the coaches don't feel he has done that. There is no reason the team wouldn't play him if they felt he was a batter choice than the ones that are playing.

Players get three practices a week to show the coaches they can contribute. Anae was inactive last week so that tells me he's not making the best of his opportunities, when he does I'll be right here ready to cheer him on, but until then have got to cheer for the guys that actually make it to the field.

He is a 5th round pick. At some point in the season he needs to play. Same for Robinson.

Here is the reason both need to be play:
-Their not 7th or un drafted players.
-Season is lost, not going to get game time experience on the sidelines.
- Evaluate on field play and adjust in remaining games.
- Can both provide depth in S/DE next year?
- Gallimore finally got playing time. Did he finally get playing time cause he practiced better? Or cause Poe was cut.

Gallimore had a fat guy collecting a paycheck in front of him.

Doug Free, Miles Austin and theres more just can't think of them off the top of my head.

Don't forget Murray behind Felix Jones until Jones got hurt for the 40th time.

I want me some Anae-hilator!

Yes. Lets take snaps from Lawrence, Smith, and Gregory so Anae can play. And don't even mention Armstrong, he's playing almost exclusively on run downs
