Is WR Michael Gallup still a lead feature type?

I was really hoping once we got better QB play and getting the balls more to the receivers, that Gallup
would step up and make his presence felt.

-We've seen Cooper come up with some key catches and staying involved in the offense.
-We've seen rookie CeeDee Lamb emerge mightily to greatly impact the game
-But is Michael Gallup in somewhat of a slump -that includes issues with drops ?

McCarthy made comments that he thought Gallup had No.1 lead WR traits, but while he can have his
moments, i tend to wonder if the inconsistencies in his game such as the untimely drops and disappearing acts may still limit him from being a No1.1 type.

Gallup is a down field WR, especially with Cooper and Lamb in the offense. We don't have a QB who can throw it downfield with any consistency.

The drops are no different than they ever have been.

IMHO, yes. He is still a big time talent. Does he need to clean up the drops. Absolutely.
I'm hoping its something as simple as pressing due to the losing streak. Maybe if they start playing better he relaxes.

The future is Lamb and Cooper. Two exceptional talents. Gallup is the odd man out.

Yes, they're not using him effectively. I'd trade Cooper when Gallup's contract is due or sooner if I could get a 1st

His numbers would be very impressive if he could hang onto the ball.

OMG,, the knee jerk reactions on this board.....cooper had a bad game a few games ago and people, were asking if he was done and time to cut him, now cooper comes up with key catches....gallup saved dalton with acrobatic catches against giants and now he is in a slump and has drop issues because of one game...

I have come to learn, fans on this board demand, expect perfection. perfect in every facet of every play of everything....

'nuff already

Looks like we may have Alvin Harper 2.0 on our hands.
He is a nice second
Maybe better than Harper was
He is not and never has been a “lead”
And there is nothing wrong with being a second
I hope we extend him

Gallup is a perfect 2WR and he was drafted properly to be such.
He can also be paid properly to be such.
Not every guy you play/draft as to be WR1.

CeeDee will elevate to Cooper's spot eventually and Gallup can maintain his WR2 role.
And I like Wilson as a 3rd
I think maybe by luck we’ve dealt with WR like you should every position. Have young guys in waiting so you don’t have to go buy players

...sometimes you get into a funk. Or Gallup is just doing a pit stop.

Let me start by saying I love Gallup. He can put up low tier #1 numbers if hes next to a #1 in todays NFL, but he cannot be your best receiver. He is going to make eye popping plays. He will come up clutch, but hes also a chest catcher which limits some of the routes hes able to run, and it limits how comfortable a QB will feel throwing to him in certain situations.
