Exactly my point. Great resume but it doesn't stand out, especially at his position which is 1. lower valued and 2. log jammed. Butler who I think is lowest on the pecking order still has the same amount of first team all-pros, actually made the all-decade team, and has 70% more interceptions.

All these secondary players either have resumes that are within 10% of each other or are so far ahead of the pack aka Champ Bailey

Where Woodson is overlooked is that he was actually the nickel slot corner for the Cowboy teams of the 90s. His ability to cover the inside WRs and TEs, as well as supporting the run like a linebacker and his blitzing ability allowed the Cowboys to keep their base defense on the field to defend 3 WR sets. It set them apart, and sets him apart as a player.

But the players you mentioned could not play in 3 different positions
That's the downside to playing a lower tier position. Some of the intangibles don't matter at all or very little in the voters eyes.

For positions like interior o-line and secondary they'll mostly just focus on raw numbers/accolades which is the main reason why it's so damn hard to get in for both (Alan Faneca for example is 1st team all-decade, 9x pro bowler, and 6x 1st team all-pro and he hasn't gotten in on 5 different attempts which is insane)

Really pulling for Woody and LeRoy Butler to get in. Just don't get the respect they deserve.

Because he played for the Dallas Cowboys?? Just throwing that out there as many people feel there is an "east coast" bias to the HOF.
There is a bias, just look at C Howley, there are more, the DC brand is not well received with many voters.

The problem is they both played at roughly the same time, were both great but didn't have traditionally eye-popping INT stats, and ultimately tend to split the '1990s best safety' votes every year and neither of them make it.

I hear you but I am holding out hope especially with Steve Atwater getting the recognition he sorely deserved.

Darren Woodson has long been one of my fav Cowboys players and deservedly so.

He's, hands down, the best safety that the Dallas Cowboys have ever had.

I'd, certainly, be very disappointed if he's not included in the HOF.
Woodson is great no doubt, but I'll stick with cliff harris as the greatest Cowboys safety ever, just above Charlie waters.
