The one issue that has hounded this team

Consistency has pretty much been the death knell of this team. The best teams in the league play consistent football. They don't play down to their opponent, they just go out there and play their game. The SB winning cowboys teams all had it and it seems to be something that is very difficult to replicate. I suspect a large part of this is finding that fine amalgamation of talent and coaching.

I wouldn't expect this team to go anywhere until they fix this problem, and for those of you screaming for the firing of the coaching staff etc - this isn't something that started today, it's been this way for all of the 10 years that Garrett was coach, it was this way when Wade was HC and prior to him when Parcells was coach. This team is notorious for playing down to opponent and that is the identity of this team. It does not impose it's will on their opponents and that is the problem. The injuries didn't help yesterday but this issue was there last year and it was here this year when Dak was playing. Why do you think we see performances like the ones against the Jets last year, or for a team this loaded with playmakers is eeking out wins against the Giants?

The issue that has hounded this team is COACHING. Jerry doesn't know how to pick coaches. It's simple as that. He lucked into Parcells, but Parcells left because Jerry wouldn't let him cook the groceries (that, and Parcells was simply too old to last in the game).

Jerry hires coaches and demands that certain assistant or position coaches remain, undermining the head coach. He doesn't know how to select coaches with the understanding that those coaches are going to bring in their guys. He's always look BACK to recapture the 90s glory days when smart franchises are looking to the FUTURE.

Find a bright, disciplined coach. Let him pick his staff and his players. And stay out of his way.

Discipline is a function of COACHING. There's a reason Jimmy Johnson and Bill Belichick teams rarely made mistakes.

The number 1 issue with this team is the defense. People don’t seem to understand how bad the Washington Football Team offense is. They ran us over like a Mac Truck running over road kill. Our defense needs an overhaul maybe as much as 7 starters. Tank, Diggs, and maybe LVE will probably start. Aldon is a free agent so I will leave him out. I would keep Gregory as a pass rusher.

The teams of the 90s knew they were going to win because anything less than that would get then placed on the asthma field or outright cut from the team. Accountability left the building with Jimmy Johnson, made a brief return with Parcells and has been replaced by a country club atmosphere. I was vaguely intrigued when they released the FA dead weight signings a few weeks ago, but here we are again. From the top down no one is being held accountable. Would fassel still have a job for bilechek? Would kellen still be calling plays after 2 seasons of mistakes?

Jerry has made this mess. The only way out is to bring in a truck load of football people to run the organization and old jer sails off on his paddle boat and counts his money. Until then, keep rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic...

I think consistency starts with having the same guys on the field every game, especially the stars. Losing Martin and Erving on the first drive really hurt them and changed the way they called the game. I have no doubt had Martin and Erving not gotten hurt the Cowboys would have won. When the announcers were talking about Dallas losing their two starting tackles, that is actually inaccurate. They lost their two starting tackles early in the year. Yesterday, they lost a backup to the starter and their starting OG who moved out to tackle. They were playing backups to backups. That's a big deal.

Yea I agree to a point, but this team has had years where we have had the same guys on the field and the play is always up and down.

This year it's impossible to be consistent with the injuries the Cowboys have had. Easy to see why they struggle so much at times and flash good football occasionally.

And they dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball.

The #1 issues with this team this year is injuries. The biggest issue with this team the last 15 years or longer has generally been defense.

Taking Zeke over Ramsey and wiffing on guys like Taco/Watt, Jaylon, Gregory, Woods, Hill have been big big issues. You might even throw LVE in there with his injury problems.

Plain and simple, its been relying on Merrineli to pick his defenders and Jones affinity to take injured and problem guys high in hopes of hitting a home run.

If HALF of those situations work out this team is much much better.

The offensive picks have generally worked out and worked out well. We need somebody that understands how to get good defenders in the draft. And we have to get rid of stooges like Zeke and Jaylon and their bloated, useless contracts.

The issue is Jerry. Period. Yes coaching, talent, discipline, execution, etc...all matter a lot. But the one guy in charge of hiring coaches, always chooses the HC based on his own comfort level, not on the coach’s actual ability. No salary cap for coaches. Yet Jerry always hires a bargain by choice.

Who’s most responsible for all this. Jerry. Period.

I disagree with the above. Consistency is the problem with the Cowboys. Here's the constant:

When you have to look players up that got pulled from the practice squad and you've never heard of them, you know it's gotten pretty rough.
