While the coaching change certainly hasn't resulted in an improvement, the person occupying the head coach position is only a symptom of the problems in Dallas. The actual disease infesting and compromising this team resides in the owner's box.

Here come the Garrett fans like he was worth keeping around? McCarthy doesn't look good but at least he won't be treated as Jerrys long lost stepchild for the next decade plus. Like somehow under the current circumstances, Garrett would be doing better? LOL He was pure crap! And McCarthy's job here won't change that one bit.

Whoever thought we’d actually regress in coaching?

This is dumbest staff I’ve seen. And the team quit on them.
MM is not the coach that so many posters claimed when he was hired. He has never been a top coach and he was fired from GB for being a lazy coach that had an offense that was stale. Rodgers was right, MM has the lowest football IQ in the league. Rodgers won a Super Bowl in spite of MM.

I'm pretty disappointed in what I've seen pre and post injuries.

Offense would shoot itself in quarters 1-3 then make a charge in the 4th. Defense was potato level quality.
Z was better than Maher but thats not a high bar.

Whoever is calling plays has zero feeling for the flow of the game. He's just a good ff guy.

At least if there's any bright side to this lost year is that we should suck for a top 5-8 pick.

This could very well be the worst Cowboys football team in franchise history! I have been a fan since I was a kid growing up in the DFW area back in the early 70's and I think this team is the worst team I have every seen.

However, the NFL in general has some really bad football teams throughout the league this year.

Garrett may not have been enough. But this is unbearable. Never seen these continued dumb decisions on 4th down. Did he do this in Green Bay?
garrett is said to be under scrutiny in ny as the oc. and again for his lack of imaginative play calling. since judge has personally become more involved in the offense and the offensive line (poor columbo) the giant's fortunes have increased. but i agree with you in that mac has been a huge disappointment. no way we get to the big dance being a gimmick play team. imo, when you've had as many injuries as the cowboys on offense, the way to improve is to stick with sound, basic playcalling. not all these fake punts, end arounds and other trick plays. most times they don't work. continuity is needed. not smashed watermelons.

Yeah it allowed him for to be stupid and get away with it. AR is a coaches dream......and I'm not gonna say Dak is AR but he sure bailed out McCarthy in that stupid Falcons game......

Ehhhh.... while Prescott did get them back in the game, the Falcons brain cramp on the onside kick bailed McCarthy out, otherwise it was another close but no cigar loss.

Speaking of dumb, why didn't the Cowboys react on that trick play when the center snapped the football and the QB took it and lined up under the RB as if he was the center? what were they waiting for? I bet that play gets blown up by every other team in the league because on the snap every other DL would simple crash the offensive line. The fact that the Cowboys DL did not react to the snap tells me they are nowhere near aggressive enough.

The Lone Ranger, John (Duke) Wayne and Roy Rogers are all passing around a petition in Heaven asking for the Dallas Football Team to no longer be referred to as the "Cowboys"

But that's the difference between a loss and a W in this league. The team that screws up last is the one who loses.

You know.......we all thought Garrett was holding this team back....and I'd still say he was the issue but all I've heard about this team is how they are too stupid to do this......too stupid to do that......players are regressing. I'm not going to argue against it or for it but you can argue that Garrett got more out of this core of guys than McCarthy seems to be able to.

As of right now......its time to call it. Jerry made a mistake firing Garrett in favor of McCarthy.
I agree.

From watching the team play this season we don't have many high football IQ players. All joking aside, it's a genuine problem.

Let's take yesterday for example...

Jaylon Smith - jumping around before the ball is snapped on most plays like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.

LDVE - what on earth was he doing when Smith had made the interception? Just make the regulation block on Mclaurin Dumbo.

Wilson - ok so the play call itself was dumb given it was unnecessary and it may not have even been part of the play design but there was an open receiver. Yet he never looked downfield or to even throw the ball then he connects. Use some initiative dummy.

Zeke - simply hold the ball in a way to not fumble under zero duress. One job...

The defense often looked clueless in the second half before the ball had been snapped. They were looking around for instructions. What on earth was going on!?

So I agree with your post. Perhaps Garrett knew that we had a roster full of space cadets and just kept it simple and all joking aside the mindless clapping for easy positive reinforcement wasn't as silly as it once seemed!

We can argue about Prescott, the offensive line and the coaching etc but the starting point is that we need some smarter footballers. Guys who actually know what they are doing and have an organic feel for the game.

Even Lamb. Why has he dropped easy passes at really bad moments yet made difficult catches...would he rather look good for the highlight reel?
