The 2 big differences are that 10 yards is way more than 2 and Alex Smith is not Peyton Manning. Not wanting to bet on stopping Peyton Manning is fine, but if you fear Alex Smith your team has bigger problems.
And our defense is the Patriots' defense. That more than evens out the QB comparison.

Going for 4th down on your 20 is different than that b.s. fake punt we tried.

Mcarthy did similar today but opposite qb was Peyton Manning instead of Alex Smith.
Wasn’t that 4th and 2

...Most of ya guys wanted them to tank for a better draft position anyway...I see no harm in going for the fake...I certainly wouldn't have expected it that deep in their own territory...yes it was risky (aren't they all.)...With the loss of the tackles on the 0line they weren't making very good running lanes, and couldn't really protect the QB pocket...I believe that Jaylyn had just ran an interception back to the 4 yard line earlier...but they couldn't score a TD...They saw the game slipping away and just went for it!...But even if they would have made it, or just punted back...IMO the game was lost!!

1. They should have NEVER gone for it, not under the circumstances they were in, i.e., 4th and 10, 12:57 left in the 4th quarter, down by 4 and at our own 24 yard line.
2. If they were going to go for it, you don't call a reverse. It takes too much time and gives the punt return unit a chance to see the play developing and react with enough time to stop it - which they did.
3. The call essentially destroyed the momentum of the game and of our defense. The Skins go on to score 21 points; we score 0.

yeah but u leave out what time was it in the game? what was the score, 4th and what>? what play did he run?

I personally dont like it unless there is only 2 mins or less remaining, your chances are better with punting, and hope for a turnover, or quick 3 and out.

I saw andy in PC, and he almost said it was a bad call, he said 3 times we were in it, meaning they could have and should have won.

Can we fans that post comments just double-check on the basic & simple things, I.e. spelling players'& coaches' names correctly?

It was such a bad decision then, you still remember it 16 years later,

Not sure the point you are trying to make here...
Should have expected critique on my post - and hung around to respond.
I initially formed my take thinking about Belichick needing his team to score + not letting Manning get a chance to score before the Patriots --because Peyton definitely would get his team to put up points.
With regards to the Cowboys...McCarthy was desperate- he felt the team needed to score... because
No.

No one here is a robot. To be human is to error. And to ask some to stop typing their post to check and see if Micheal Irving's name has a "G" on it or not is just ***. Because we are all fans of the sport and it doesn't matter if you spell someone's name correctly as long as people know who you're talking about.

P.S. - Who died and made you dictator?
Misspelling is just one aspect of not being as accurate and resourceful as possible when posting and\ or posting comments.
Remember last week - when the "medical emergency" post came on CZ...
monitor, then commenters alike posted the passing of Markus Paul when it was not true at the time.

"When posting and\ or posting comments."

That's a highly inaccurate way to make your point.
