It still makes no sense for a bad team to take on Dak’s deal.

Maybe. And...it still makes no sense to invest a very high first round, possibly including yet ANOTHER high draft pick, for a bad team to take a quarterback.

See Cinci and Burrow. Good times.

(and Lawrence isn't HALF the QB Burrow is)

And in 3 or 4 years the stars may perfectly align for us to have a 1 year window at a championship.

Dak is a 1 way ticket to being mediocre for a long time. If we're lucky we might win a wildcard game.

And if we spend a couple high picks on an unknown QB...without "fixing" the rest of the team...we'll have Cincinnati/Joe Burrow 2020 in 2021.

Look...I'm okay with parting with Dak. (Get THAT straight "Frozen700"). If injury or contract is the concern. But NOT at the expense of the rest of the team. I'd rather invest in the rest of the team FIRST.

A few key positions (AKA top draft picks) would make a bigger difference for our team than a Rookie QB.

Going back a ways we've been better drafting offense than defense.

But no, that's not what I'm saying.

I want to separate from being mediocre if that separation means being horrible then I’m all for it.

100%.
i'd rather use our 1st pick on CB Caleb Farley,Va Tech or Patrick Surtain,Bama....pairing either one with Trevon Diggs for the next decade.....than trade Dak...go w/a rookie QB and be stuck having to pair Diggs with Awuzie(whom i like) or Brown.
And if we can find a solid free Safety I think Wilson makes a pretty good Strong Safety.
I'd get another DT and a LB as well.

It makes no sense for the Jets to invest in a franchise quarterback? That’s about the only thing that makes sense with the 1st pick in the draft.

Disagree..

Darnold is 23 and they have failed him as a franchise.

They can be sold on sticking with him and actually putting something around him.

His failure is on them. He’s still a really good prospect that has a ton of experience for a 23 year old.

I would try to sell them on Sewell and Lamb.. I’d try to move Gallup first but I’d come off Lamb for Lawrence.

I don’t think they are stupid enough to trade for Dak.

There is no way the Jets don’t take him. He’s the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning.

And Dak fans - I am as big of a Dak advocate as you can get, but if Lawrence is there you take him and don’t look back. Again, he’s one of the best QB prospects ever.

Dak has already come out and said publicly he doesnt deserve to paid as the highest paid in the league. This whole Dak is greedy mantra has already been debunked countless times.
I thought 31mil was pretty darn fair. Market value has its advantages. Dak cleaned up.

Being the best prospect ever...we’ve heard that before just for the guy to bust. Now I do agree if he’s there take him but I do it because of 5 years with his rookie salary not because of this hype that’s been created.

Going from 5 to 1 is going to cost you more than that. Its going to also cost you obviously your first this year and next year and a couple seconds as well and that MIGHT be enough.... maybe and that is assuming they are around 5 and not say 8 or 9 because then its going to cost probably an extra 1st and an extra second on top of all of that.

It’s not stupid to tAke Dak. It’s just stupid to invest in him when they have no team around him. Draft Lawrence and trade Dalton. Simple.

And it would probably take two 1st rounders and Lamb to get that Lawrence pick.

I agree. I also think it’s wishful thinking this team finishes with the 4th pick.

Give up maybe their entire draft? So Lawrence will fill the defensive holes too?

This is a long term plan.

Lawrence has a chance to be one of the best if not the best QBs in the league. Nobody cares what you give up to get them.

You get Lawrence in the building and you go from there.

Some corner or linebacker does nothing for our future.

Cowboys don't need someone who can throw a deep out. Or a touch screen. Or a fade....

A team better care what they give up. A team cannot succeed without caring about building more than one position. Besides, how does a long term plan look with only one 2021 draft pick to help build that long term plan?
