Coaches make those calls, not the players.
I realize that.
Coaches make those calls, not the players.
Rockport things change it's the nature of life. One medicine doesnt cure all ills.Losing is for losers. Period.
Two points, first it's a moot point because the players and coaches aren't going to "tank" whatever that means. Second, wanting the team to lose is a character issue IMO. You'll never convince me to root for a loss. Just not in my DNA.Rockport things change it's the nature of life. One medicine doesnt cure all ills.
When you see FO selling off players for future picks are they a loser today? I wouldn't call Miami a loser. I once held your view and would argue your side. Now high school coaching I would agree that is a ethical instructive environment growing young men. This game isnt high school sports
Not quite sure what point you are attempting to make, but I don't ever recall a Jimmy Johnson team losing on purpose.Jimmy Johnson says hi.
This is where emotions are turning on the argument and emotions aren't reliable. As a traditionalist you understandably would hold that view. I at one time did also. But when I see teams tanking and come back quicker then the traditional way I say " thats smart money. The Miami team is fired up, wanting the team to lose is a character issue
He did. He sat better players for draft picks. Common knowledge. Not quite sure what point you are attempting to make, but I don't ever recall a Jimmy Johnson team losing on purpose.
Sure, his 89 team went 1-15, but that is due to that team just being plain bad and playing a rookie QB that got his butt kicked behind a poor oline.
IMO Jimmy was too prideful to intensionally lose. And if he had that type of mentality, I could not see him being nearly as successful, or ruthless, as he was as a Coach.
Who actually did the tanking in Miami and how? This is where emotions are turning on the argument and emotions aren't reliable. As a traditionalist you understandably would hold that view. Some (me) called it “tanking” because the Dolphins poked so many holes in their roster that it was obviously pieced together to lose.
I’m still waiting for you to tell me how they tanked. Who did the tanking? How did they do it? There is no such thing as tanking in the NFL. The players and the coaches for sure will never do it. Their livelihoods depend on success. Ownership will not do it because of the parody in the NFL. Most teams are just a few players, coaches away from being SB capable. That’s a fact. Just look at the playoff teams from year to year. The only tankers are loser fans. Quitters. They’ve quit so many times in life that it becomes second nature to them.
All you “tankers”, I.e quitters are the same people who after the 1st game of the season gave up and said the season is over.In last week's Steelers and Washington Football Team game, Mike Tomlin told Chase Young that he never wants to lose enough games to get a player like him.
That's why when there is no shot at the playoffs, it's in a team's best interest to lose as many games as possible.
Only special talent like that can be found in the first few picks of the draft.
Yes, other special players can be found later but that happens less than you think considering how many total picks there are in each draft. Most times, teams don't even know they drafted a special player and just get lucky. For example, the Patriots had no clue how good Brady would be because they took him in the 6th round.
Players like Chase Young, Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, are any teams best bet each draft.
Those types of players can only be acquired by picking top 5 or better.
That's why you want to lose games in a season that was already over in week 6.
or TJ Watt? oh, waitJoey Bosa or Taco?
Like who exactly? He did. He sat better players for draft picks. Common knowledge.
Fans that root for meaningless wins do not understand this simple logic. But there was a guy that was an answer for Chase Young who we have to face for a decade.
Also, getting a haul in a trade back would be great!
A QB desperate team giving up a ton to move up to our pick? Yes please.
The pay Dak guys should want that because we could potentially get a ton of premium picks and we will need quality players for cheap with Dak Prescott hoarding the cap space.
As a fan hoping your team loses meaningless games to get a much better draft pick is logical thinking. It screams, I am mature enough and smart enough to give up meaningless wins this year for a better chance at important wins next year.or TJ Watt? oh, wait
maybe Trubisky at 1st overall instead of Mahomes or Watson at 10th or 12th? oops
Oh wait....maybe that elite RB at 2nd overall, Trent Richardson?
Or that can't miss 1st overall QB, Jamarcus Russell.
etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,
Just sell your souls and maybe get a better pick.
Sweet!
I know, I know. Odds are better picking earlier, on average. Not remotely guaranteed, but yes, on average.
This isn't 5 starters like the NBA.
22 starters plus special teams. If tanking wasn't already unethical or at the very least screaming "I'm a loser who never-played-real-sports-at-a-high-level" metality.....Tanking in football is preposterous in its own right.
Fanatic talking: wanting the team to lose is a character issue. LOLTwo points, first it's a moot point because the players and coaches aren't going to "tank" whatever that means. Second, wanting the team to lose is a character issue IMO. You'll never convince me to root for a loss. Just not in my DNA.
Fanatic talking! Look up the definition. It’s not a mature sensible person.I’m still waiting for you to tell me how they tanked. Who did the tanking? How did they do it? Thank you!The case is real simple. It is in the best interest of the team to lose right now .....just as it was in 1989.
Fanatic talking. Look up definition.Losing is for losers. Period.
If you chose to believe that ,as you wishI’m still waiting for you to tell me how they tanked. Who did the tanking? How did they do it? There is no such thing as tanking in the NFL.
