Better right now.

Better in a few years? I'm banking on Farley. I think he can be special.

See that’s my thing. If both are on the board, I have to take Surtain.

He just seems like a day one, lunch pail starter. Tons of playing time, no time off, not injured.

I love Farleys potential, but I just can’t risk him over Surtain. Injuries, year off etc.

I would be happy with Farley if Surtain goes before us

Those were the teams that I thought of when I saw the draft order. If Parsons, Surtain, Farley are not there ( assuming Lawrence and Sewell) are gone then I am all for trading down if the trade is good.

Are we starting to see the value in tanking in a lost season?

BTW, I think the Eagles take a WR or even Kyle Pitts.

I would not mind him but if he runs a 4.4 I think he gets picked before us

For some reason Broaddus thinks he will run a 4.5 or slower. If so, I can see him dropping way down. Too many guys in the league with 4.3 speed at WR.

I’ve watched every Alabama game for the past Decade or so and I’m willing to bet my next years Salary that Patrick Surtain will become a Star.

Kid has been drilled on Technique & Fundamentals since he could walk (His exact words). His father was a NFL CB so it makes sense.

Even in the CFP game against Notre Dane. The Head Coach for the Irish said he has told his QB all week to never throw at Surtain no matter what and they didn’t except 1Time when Surtain almost got the Interception. The Commentator even pointed out that Surtain was trying to Bait ‘Book(IrishQB) into passing his way.

The Kid is special, and would transform our Secondary. Add Him & a Safety = our Secondary massive improvement, also can’t forget Diggs with a year under his belt and healthy.

Thoughts?

Side Note: Surtain has Started at CB since Day1, walked onto Alabama Campus.
is he as fast twitched as Revis? apprantley he struggled a bit this year...but given he is from alabama, you know his fundamentals are sound.

I'm thrilled with either. Just slightly prefer Farley.

I think with the Dan Quinn hiring today, we are going to see more of a cover 3 scheme. This may downgrade the need for a top flight corner, but could raise the need for a safety who possess elite range.
I disagree. To run a heavy Cover 3 scheme, you want big, athletic Corners who can win in the first 5 yards. Diggs, who I'm a big fan of, is a Press Corner who doesn't Press. He doesn't like to use his hands early and relies on his athleticism to "match" or "step & replace." I'd be curious to see if Quinn tries to get Diggs to press more.

I do agree with your assessment about needing a Safety with range. I could see this (lazy) Front Office falling in love with Andre Cisco because of this.

I doubt Surtain makes it to 10.
Just curious.

Who do you think will snag him before us? Or will someone trade ahead of us to get him?

FA, as always, will change how teams will approach the draft. It's so hard to know this early.

Honestly any of the teams not taking QBs could except the Dolphins

Bengals
Philly
Panthers
Detroit
Broncos

I think the Eagles are a strong possibility. They’ve always liked to counter what we do. We have three good WR’s and they have 1 good CB.

They surely could.

I see at least three WRs, one OL, and possibly three QBs in the top ten. That leaves Surtain and Farley. Players like Parsons and Lance are possibilities too. Another WR can sneak in as well.

It's gonna be interesting.

Surtain Dominated against Ohio State Again. They basically shied away from his side of the field the entire game. Only gave up 2 Catches all game and made a couple solid tackles.

his technique is so sound that it doesn’t even matter if he runs a 4.5 like Revis. His Technique allows him to still shadow the receiver and still not get burnt.

Patrick Surtain had all the hype as a 2x All American in high school and went to Alabama an started from day 1. Kid has been solid from his freshman year until this championship game.

Once Dallas beat Cincy and 49ers, the realization of this dream scenario was slipping through the cracks

Seriously i would be good with either him or Farley and atleast one of them should make it to 10.

My guess is that there will be 3 QBs taken Top10 (Lawrence, Fields, Wilson) + Sewell OT + Devonta Smith WR and Kyle Pitts TE. With the lack of elite Tackles this draft either Leatherwood or Slater could go Top 10 too.,

After the Final even Mac Jones will have a say about at Top 10 Pick if he turns in a great combine too.

That means minimum 6 to 9 of the first Picks will be Offense which gives us big chance to get the Top Defender of the draft or atleast the 2nd one.
