All I want for Christmas is a defense like Tampa Bay's

Tampa's defense is good, but let's not forget the Chiefs were missing 3 starters on their offensive line (who played in the previous SB).
This
The healthier Cheifs beat this same team earlier in the year.

Tampa's game plan and defense were great on Super Sunday, but this group gave up 22 ppg this year and was nothing like true dominant defense like the Bears, Ravens, and yes, Bucs of past SB winners.

Very good D though

Wow, I didn't realize it was 3. I thought it was 2. It would have been interesting to see what the game would have been like if KC had had these three starters.

I called it back in december with Tampa. They had balance. The teams that tend to go far and get to the SB run the ball good, protect the ball, and have stout defenses. This year was no different. I expected Tampa to win, but not in this dominating fashion. Most cannot understand how hard it is to hold any NFL team without a TD, let alone Mahomes in the SB no less. it was an emphatic arse whoopin.

Yep, I also tried to tell the Brady haters that Tampa was the perfect place for Brady to land and that Tampa had a good defense.

Then there is always those that think Brady is done every year. Usually the QB challenged football fans that dont understand value of the team around the QB. They think that QB's do everything on their own and can carry entire teams all by themselves.

Tampa found a groove as a team back in december and never looked back. The D may not have been 85 Bears good during the year, but on SB Sunday they were dang close to it. That is all that matters.People doubted them all year. They were forgotten. They flipped a switch and got behind their coach and QB. THEY STARTED BELIEVING. It does make a difference.

Tom Brady throwing Super Bowl trophy. Cowboys should steal it from them next year and throw it at the Star.

Yes, you called it. Prior to the Super Bowl, I knew the Bucs had a good defense, but I didn't realize just how good they were. I did not expect them to be able to totally manhandle the Chiefs' O-line like they did. Of course, it didn't help KC at all to have some starters out. I had expected a close game until the 4th quarter when the Chiefs would run away with it. Didn't happen that way thanks to the Bucs' dominating defense. They have my respect. It's HARD to build a defense like that. The fact that Landry's defenses were so tough year after year is a testament to his greatness. Man, I miss Cowboys football with that Doomsday Defense.

That’s a good point. You don’t really see defenses that are great year after year. Whereas, it’s more common for an offense to be consistently good. Think of some great defenses that carried their team to a Super Bowl and then think where they were the next year. For example, that Broncos defenses that helped Peyton win his final Super Bowl in a year when he was by far the worst QB in the NFL. Even this Tampa defense might not be as dominant next year.

Is this a joke? Tampa has a good defense but its not like the defense carried them this year. I don't think they were even a top 10 defense this year. Granted, that would be an improvement over our current defense, but hardly the bridge to get us to a super bowl. This team is terminally flawed. It starts the QB and goes right on through the OL and defense. It can't be fixed with the current cap constraints and Daks impending contract.
They were
8th in total yardage
7th in points allowed
6th in sacks per game
2nd in takeaways per game.

Yeah they kept the offense afloat the first 12 weeks. Brady didn’t start playing well until after their bye. And even then he wasn’t lights out in the playoffs. 3 straight picks on the road in an NFC title game will get anyone beat unless you have an all world defense.

stats can be a misnomer. The stats you posted however do show alot of consistency and 1 thing stood out to me. They were top 10 in all those categories that matter most. That will get it done in dec/Jan.

Ah yes, the Tampa model.

Fail with your top 5 QB, build an OK defense, have a HoF QB fall in your lap. Absolutely a formula for consistent, repeatable success.

Not to mention having no significant injuries come playoff time, and playing against teams who are decimated on the OL.

Tampa had a solid Defence. Lets not act like KC's OL was bad though. Reminded me of Romo vs Minnesota. Or Dak vs Atlanta.
What? In the Super Bowl it was absolutely terrible.

Romo vs. Minnesota and Dak vs. Atlanta...the offensive lines were awful.

Typical post Super Bowl reaction by many fans.
Go ahead and set the people straight as how Dak would of had 5 SB wins if he wasn't held back by all the terrible teams, players and coaches he's been forced to play with and carry, don't forget to mention how the ref's and the league are against him too. Tell them how Brady is a washed up jag. Set them straight Rockhomie.

does it matter how you get there and win? Still gotta execute what is before you. How many teams held Mahomes scoreless like ever?
