I think Jerry and Stephen need to admit they blew this one,( not getting it done earlier ) bite the bullet and either give him what he wants or trade him......now! Not sure there will ever be a stronger trade market than the one going on right now for QBs. Hell, Vegas just release the odds of a Wilson to Cowboys trade 2nd most likely behind the Raiders. Also have seen tweets suggesting a straight Watson for Dak trade. My point, dragging this out any further makes no sense, either get it done or move on.

Always looked to me like Dak was following the Kirk Cousins Path to Riches - franchise tags to free agency. Doesn't Dak have the agent that Cousins had while he was sitting tight on the franchise tags, refusing to sign a contract?

To trade him, he has to sign the tag. He's not likely to do that until the last possible second. And who wants to give up much for a QB on a one year deal? At best you can nonexclusive tag him and see what people offer to him. Either way, you're committing to drafting a QB at that point.

Trading Dak for Watson makes no sense for 2 reasons:

* Watson is not better than Dak. Watson is very good but slightly lesser than Dak, statistically.
* Cowboys would have to pick up Watson's current contract. What is Watson getting paid right now? $40 mil/season? How is that better than keeping Dak?

This trade proposal makes no sense and would only hurt the Cowboys, not help them.

Jerry and Stephen didnt screw this up. I am hoping they are taking into consideration what kind of trade they can get based on Stafford and eventually Wentz.

Kirk is a better QB and ya forget any hopes you have that we're going to give 37 million to a average gimp QB.
Hey, bud FYI Jerry and family do not share your Dak-Crush....sorry.:(

So if Dak plays under the franchise tag for two years, he's guaranteed almost 70 million dollars...... oh the horror, my heart bleeds for him!!!

Exactly. Which is why if I'm Dak I hold out for what I want or play under the tag again then become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.

I just wait for Jerry to cave, or take $37 million and go where I want next year.

"If the Cowboys can’t work out a long-term deal with their quarterback by March 9, they are expected to use the $37.7 million franchise tag on him.

That would buy the Cowboys four months to get a long-term agreement with Prescott or risk his potential departure in 2022."

I don't have much doubt they will tag him, because of the injury. Dak's just now getting to the point where he can recover from the injury, and most expectations were that it would be April before he can do any real work, so the Cowboys will be able to take the 4 months to see how the ankle healing goes...
