This is exactly the type of story, that has absolutely no legs, that media personalities use to grow their brand. Can't reveal sources, don't care if they're right or wrong, but get their name out there. Unscrupulous, but effective.

Yeah, I seriously doubt this. Could it be worse than the peaches and roses (Quincy shoutout) recovery the Dak team has been claiming? Sure. But I have a hard time believing all the reports were that far off.

The guys at the Fan aren't saying it's all doom and gloom and all of them are actually pulling for Dak. Jeff Cavanaugh is one of the biggest Dak Stans ever. They're just telling you that things aren't going as good as his camp and the Cowboys are telling you.

Yeah I understand that. I’m not accusing anyone at the Fan of anything.

I’m just saying I’m not going to get all worked up about one report from one dude at the Fan either way.

Relax..

He’s relaying info that he deems as reliable and evidently the Cowboys do as well if they already know what he’s talking about.

Sorry it wasn’t from the exact source you would like.. The guy doing the surgery or whatever.

Who is not relaxed? I literally am just saying it all depends on what Dak’s doctors are saying.

that is the relaxed and rational view to take.

is it irrational to think that the best person to know what’s really going on from, would be Dak’s specialists who performed the surgeries and are doing the rehab?

The second surgery is not unusual for a pro athlete to hasten the recovery. This happens all the time when they're concerned about scar tissue.

A lay person doesn't get the best surgeons or the luxury of a clean out surgery because their insurance won't cover it.

That doesn't mean there's not something going on and one thing I've learned to discount with the Cowboys is any news of an injury. Booger thinks he can wish it well.

Who told you it was a clean out surgery? Unnamed sources. Seems like you have no doubt on these ‘sources’ from one article and repeat what they say as if it is 100% true. Truth be told, you have no clue if it was just a clean out surgery or something serious. The same source said the surgery was on the deltoid ligament. Look up ankle deltoid ligament surgery and you will find it usually does not need surgery unless badly injured and all other options have failed.

What a tragedy it would be if a 28 year old college educated multimillionaire couldn't play football anymore.

Sometimes life just isn't fair.
What if it was Wentz that could never touch a football again? Would you feel bad?

if this is true...i hope we get Trey Lance at 10.
didn't watch any byu games so i know nothing about zach wilson...other than he played at byu.
in the games i watched,i was impressed with Lance.
kyle trask wouldn't be a bad option...but not at 10.

Anyone hear Cross Talk between Shan & RJ and the K&C Masterpiece this morning on the Fan? Mike Bascik flew off the rails on the Dak contract discussion and made some seriously bold claims.

He said he wasn't allowed to divulge the fine details, but mentioned that Dak is dealing with more than simply a broken ankle and these next 5 to 6 months are absolutely critical for rehab and basically determining if Dak can play football ever again. Mike said that there is a real "20 percent chance" that Dak never plays football again. Mentioned that the Cowboys are aware of the issue that he knows about, and said that it looks like almost an impossibility that the Cowboys fork over 170+ million dollars to a QB that's dealing with what Dak is dealing with. Also mentioned that releasing him after June with a franchise tag is also a realistic possibility.

I'm not strongly for or against Dak being signed here long term, but this certainly ignites some serious discussion. And for the clowns on this forum that will immediately dismiss this as fake news, Bascik is extremely plugged into the network in the Metroplex and also has numerous connections in the local medical network, since he himself is married to a physician. He was dropping hints of Dak having a second surgery over a month before national media got a hold of that story.

This is a crazy development.
Very interesting. Preciate you acknowledging the source and allowing us to decide how much weight we put on it... as opposed to pretending it's 100% factual blah blah blah.

Personally, I believe it's at least pretty close to the truth, if not completely factual. I have been wondering about the injury. I broke an ankle 10 years ago and my mobility is still hampered slightly. Obviously every injury is different but Daks looked pretty bad and it's hard not to wonder.

I hope, for his sake, Cowboy or not, he can return to form, have a long prosperous carrer and provide for his family.

Thanks for the post...

I mean.. If Alex Smith can come back then so can Dak, right?

They would never release him if this were true.. He would just play under the franchise tag.. They would give him 30 million to sit a year cause that’s just the type of franchise we are.
If all that were true, then I hope Jerry would not do that. Dak and his agent screwed the pooch if this opinion is correct and I really would not feel sorry for him. He has endorsements galore from being a Cowboy.

.....There is no way you can sign him to a long term deal before seeing that he is back to 100% and has no lingering long term effects. That goes for any and all 32 teams. He put himself in this position by continuing to say NO to incredibly generous market deals, guaranteed life changing money, because he wanted to cash in again a year sooner. This was the risk he took and he lost. He will be lucky to get the same offer he had on the table at any point in the coming year. If he does, he should take all of 1 second to say yes and sign it. Right now he is damaged goods and an unknown. I don’t see anyone giving him anything close to his previous asking price until he proves he is 100% again. Dallas may be willing to use the franchise tag and gamble that he gets back but they also may decide to move on. All he had to do was compromise on one issue. The team had already compromised on everything else. They just needed the 5th year to make it work better for the cap. He was unwilling to give at all on anything and that is why he is where he is today. I wish him the best but this is all on him.

Excellent post Cowboys22.

Are you sure? I thought he said 10-20% he wouldn't be ready by the beginning of the season...he worded it very carefully....his injury wasn't career ending so if he said that......he's really going full schtick. But I thought he said he 10-20% he wouldn't be ready.
You might be correct. It was a little confusing cause Shan kept asking questions.
