You don't get 2 1st round picks if another team signs him after we 1st round tender him?

He would also cost approx $26 to 27 million for the season under that designation if no one else bites. This as opposed to $37+ million on a 2nd franchise tag.

No. The transition tag only allows you to match any offers. Zero compensation if they sign elsewhere though.

Dak yesterday.

Looks like he's struggling. Look at the big cast on his foot.

His girlfriend is clearly struggling to support his weight while he stands there.

edit: Damn I posted this before I saw @CalPolyTechnique weekend at Bernie’s post.

well done sir.

A lay person doesn't get the best surgeons or the luxury of a clean out surgery because their insurance won't cover it.

What doctors do you see? It's usually the uninsured who dont get the best care. In my experience most insured people can access good doctors. Recovery is usually better for pro athletes because they're working with better material and are in better shape to begin with.

I doubt Bascik would just make this up. He probably has heard it.

What I wonder is if someone from the Cowboys floated it out there to try to lower Dak's asking price a bit. I wouldn't put it past them.

I'll be honest, some alarm bells went off when that story leaked last week or so about the 2nd surgery. At the time, I didn't think it was a big deal but strange that everyone tried to keep it under wraps.

But the more I think about it, the one thing this team isn't good at is keeping bad things under wraps. Now Basick could just be spitting poop here but pair what he said with the reports of a 2nd surgery and I am beginning to wonder if there is something happening here.

Also, in that 2nd pic he is not smiling. He is screaming in complete agony because he put too much weight on that leg that's about to fall off.

If you see what his brother just posted. I dont know what to believe anymore. I wish someone would just come out and denounce this all together,.

He got demoted off GBag to Masterpiece.
That's how its going for him.
Idk if demoted is the right word. He does Rangers TV pregame and so he can’t be on til 7 PM on the radio from April-September. The midday slot made more sense for him so they moved him

I dont get the point about releasing him in June. He's out of contract next month and simply wont be signed if its that bad.

I agree with the comment about the second surgery. In the past the boys have freely discussed what was supposed to be a clean up procedure in other players.

Lol some of you guys take stuff so personally.

Literally just reporting what I heard on the radio hours ago. It's a relevant discussion.

Anyone hear Cross Talk between Shan & RJ and the K&C Masterpiece this morning on the Fan? Mike Bascik flew off the rails on the Dak contract discussion and made some seriously bold claims.

He said he wasn't allowed to divulge the fine details, but mentioned that Dak is dealing with more than simply a broken ankle and these next 5 to 6 months are absolutely critical for rehab and basically determining if Dak can play football ever again. Mike said that there is a real "20 percent chance" that Dak never plays football again. Mentioned that the Cowboys are aware of the issue that he knows about, and said that it looks like almost an impossibility that the Cowboys fork over 170+ million dollars to a QB that's dealing with what Dak is dealing with. Also mentioned that releasing him after June with a franchise tag is also a realistic possibility.

I'm not strongly for or against Dak being signed here long term, but this certainly ignites some serious discussion. And for the clowns on this forum that will immediately dismiss this as fake news, Bascik is extremely plugged into the network in the Metroplex and also has numerous connections in the local medical network, since he himself is married to a physician. He was dropping hints of Dak having a second surgery over a month before national media got a hold of that story.

This is a crazy development.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people who aren't doctors or even have spouses who are doctors that make profound medical statements on someone that they have never examined and that their profound medical statements are the opposite of those who have been treating the person. The actual surgeon that did the surgeries has said that Prescott will be go to go long before camp starts and have never even so much as hinted that there is a 20% chance that Prescott may never play again. Now I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll go EVERY time with the surgeon that actually did the surgery and see the person over ANYONE who hasn't even examined the person or even talked to the person. Those that take ANY stock in this I'll bet also believe there was a second gunman in the grassy knoll too.

That's likely fair and he has a bigger role on the lesser show but he had his role reduced before he left.
If the Rangers ever climb out of the dumpster that may be a legit way for him to offer real insight.
This is simply bad form and not a great look, period.
He's getting called out by randoms like me but also by Dak's brother.

He swears he has some great insight but he either should have kept his mouth closed or been ready to share what he knows.

Compound fractures routinely require 2 surgeries. That wasn't hard to guess.
Pretending there is some career threatening aspect with Dak walking around sans boot or crutches is so unlikely he now needs to protect his reputation.

The injury stuff is at least theoretically possible but the June release stuff is so completely false that he has that all as wrong as any random fan ever could, much less someone with inside access to the team's thoughts as he portends here.
The Connor/Mike thread seems to suggest Dallas will give him a 37.7M present, draft a QB1 sign another vet back up then release Dak. That's pretty much insane because you have zero way to allay any of the cap hit to do that.
Under that craziness you'd eat 50M at QB this year.
