If Dak signs the tag, it can't be rescinded. Thanks for the info. So he can be tagged and the tag lifted. I guess the Cowboys would have to keep $37M in the books until some date.
Oh, baby if only we TANKED....
That is what I thought too but like JoeKing said I am old fart too and wanted to make sure. It is like me telling some young kid when they ask me what time it is and I say to them it is quarter of 3. They just look at me strangely and what does that mean. When I tell them they just say you could have just said that.Akin to "spilling the beans." Same concept.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but irrationally hating the media is not a personality.
Dak yesterday.
Looks like he's struggling. Look at the big cast on his foot.
I'm a big Dak fan and would be devastated if this were true. If so, I'm all for flipping the next 2-3 1sts for Russell Wilson. If they can't acquire Rodgers or Wilson then just cut all of the dead weight and start rebuilding now. I truly hope this isn't true and if it is I hope Dak recovers and kills it once he's healthy.
Oh, baby if only we TANKED....
It bodes well that he's played through concussion and various smaller injuries before. That will be the ultimate test. When 300 pounders start falling around his feet, do his feet get happy? Does he take off early not allowing that additional time for his receivers to clear? When he does take off, does his injury affect his slide?
The sight of that injury made me rigor, I can't imagine looking down and that being my ankle. The one thing we know about Prescott is that he's a strong willed young man and he overcame the injuries of other QB's to get his job, now he must overcome his own to keep it. Mentally, I think he's going to be just fine.
If Dak signs the tag, it can't be rescinded.
Just FYI.
1. Dak is a pocket QB who also has the ability to run but make no mistake. He is a pocket passing QB.
2. We will see. Again I don’t buy the 20% number. Concern due to a major injury? Sure.
20% chance of never playing again? ****
Right on.I thought so but @gjkoeppen implied that the tag could be rescinded. Or at least that is what I thought he wrote.
Back to my first plan. Just let Dak be a FA. No one signing how until he can pass a physical.
While that may be true I'd take what his brother says lightly...very lightly. Not true. Dak's brother tweeted he is walking without crutches.
Lol, "members of the Church of Dak". That was funny bro, well played.I fully expect the members of the Church of Dak to torch you.
My first reaction to this is I hope he can fully recover. Just as a person I hope he can make it back. That would be horrible if his career ended and he had so much potential and promise.Anyone hear Cross Talk between Shan & RJ and the K&C Masterpiece this morning on the Fan? Mike Bascik flew off the rails on the Dak contract discussion and made some seriously bold claims.
He said he wasn't allowed to divulge the fine details, but mentioned that Dak is dealing with more than simply a broken ankle and these next 5 to 6 months are absolutely critical for rehab and basically determining if Dak can play football ever again. Mike said that there is a real "20 percent chance" that Dak never plays football again. Mentioned that the Cowboys are aware of the issue that he knows about, and said that it looks like almost an impossibility that the Cowboys fork over 170+ million dollars to a QB that's dealing with what Dak is dealing with. Also mentioned that releasing him after June with a franchise tag is also a realistic possibility.
I'm not strongly for or against Dak being signed here long term, but this certainly ignites some serious discussion. And for the clowns on this forum that will immediately dismiss this as fake news, Bascik is extremely plugged into the network in the Metroplex and also has numerous connections in the local medical network, since he himself is married to a physician. He was dropping hints of Dak having a second surgery over a month before national media got a hold of that story.
This is a crazy development.
While that may be true I'd take what his brother says lightly...very lightly.
Thanks for the info. So he can be tagged and the tag lifted. I guess the Cowboys would have to keep $37M in the books until some date.
Dan Cooper, the Cowboys head doctor participated in the first surgery.
This was back in October.
We have no such reports with the second surgery.
Why? Possibly just because no one asked or more likely because no Cowboys officials were involved.
The day after the Super Bowl the league year ends.
And you enter a dead period.
Then the new NFL league year begins in March.
NFL teams have no recourse over athletes during this period unless they have workout bonus pay tied to it.
Any player not under contract for 2021 is essentially free now.
Then teams can make claims between February 23rd and March 9th to prevent them entering unrestricted free agency.
BUT even if a player is tagged they do not really belong to the team.
There can be no fines for instance for missing OTAs or anything else UNTIL they sign the tender.
That is all a long way to say it is almost certain Dak's current medicals/rehab details are NOT shared with the Cowboys unless Dak's agent signed off on that.
And why would he as it is real leverage.
Jerry wants him in the Cowboys program early in the off-season to gauge his health? Then let's sign the long-term 40M AAV deal.
