Carson Wentz was only worth a 2nd and 3rd round pick

It's really a
2022 1st round pick (unless Wentz does not start 3/4 of the games)
2021 3rd round pick
plus the team taking on his contract
Yes it does look like barring another injury the Eagles will get a 1, and 3 which I'm surprised. Looking at the trade though it's honestly good for both teams. Eagles get rid of some salary, and an unhappy player while Indy gets a pretty good quarterback for a reduced price since Philly will be picking up 33 million of that contract.

I wonder what Dak would get in a trade.

Would a team even trade for him knowing he has to be paid like he is elite?

2nd round pick. I would send him to NE, Denver or Chicago, which guarantees he won't go to a division rival.

Well that and the fact that he's bad lol.

The contract isn't really that bad for the Colts. I think they're paying less for Wentz than they were Brissett. Certainly less than the combo of Brissett and Rivers.

He's not a bad quarterback his statistics and win loss record shows that, but he is a quarterback that had a bad year. I suspect he'll bounce back in a big way out of Philly and back with his favorite coach that almost netted him an MVP year.

Smart by the colts. If they are out of it by week 10 or 11, they will bench him and save the pick.

They have a good team, Rivers played OK and they won 11 games, under Frank Reich, Wentz should be at least as productive as Rivers.
The real question is, will he get hurt or not?

Eh, maybe. That's why I don't necessarily hate the trade for the Colts....although now that I'm seeing conditions on the first, it's pretty stupid. They could easily have a top 10 pick next year, they're not good.

But the Colts still have a lot of work to do to put pieces around him. The OL is going to regress, and they don't have much in terms of weapons - maybe even less than Philly. If they don't direct hit a WR in the draft and FA and get a capable LT, the cast around Wentz isn't much better than it was this year - if at all.

Eww

Jerry Jones getting Dak in 2016 should of made him Gm of the year

Yes, Lets pretend Jerry was following Dak's career at Mississippi State and wasn't in love with Kellen Moore to back-up Romo. Fact is that we had no idea what we drafted and Jerry tried real hard to draft 2 other QBs not named Dak.

To be fair the low worth was mostly due to the Eagles having no leverage (QB heavy draft, Wentzs injury history, Eagles owing wentz a large roster bonus in a few weeks).

Even with no leverage they still might get a 3rd and late 1st

They will not win more than 7 games next season. Wentz isn’t a good pocket passer like Rivers and the Colts don’t have a dynamic running game that can make the quarterbacks job easier

Let's remember all that crap that the Rams and Eagles traded to get those guys in 2016. Traded 5 draft picks for him lol.

That's the thing about that conditional 1st. If he plays 75% of the snaps that must means he's playing well which should mean the Colts will have a bad 1st round pick anyway. A late 1st is better than a 2nd though but man what a mess.

Top Five OL and Jonathan Taylor....dynamic enough....they won 11 games last year with Rivers

Yeah, it is a decent contract. Only $40M guaranteed with$47M paid first two years. No guaranteed money after year two. I am guessing Brissett is traded or cut soon.

Yeah man I'm kind of leaning this way. How long of a leash does Wentz have? If he's struggling.....and the team is struggling....do you even play him enough snaps to lose your 1st round pick?

That's not true at all. They could be like 5-7 and a game out in the division. He'd play that 13th game.

Well he's a free agent so...problem solved.

They were 11th in the league in rushing, and they were probably top 5 in the second half of the season, their rookie RB Taylor is a stud, he turned it on in the last part of the season.

Right? The Colts needed Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning to put up hall of Fame 35-40 TD+ seasons just to get either blown out in the AFC championship game or lose to an underdog in the divisional round.

Carson Wentz isn’t in either of their stratosphere. People forget the only reason Carson wentz was successful in 2017 is because he rushed for nearly as many yards as Cam Newton’s 2015 MVP season.

People stereotype him as a pocket passing quarterback for obvious reasons... when he’s really a low IQ running quarterback whose declining every year.

He’s The iPhone SE version of cam Newton. Big running QB with a rocket arm but no accuracy and poor decision making

t-14 in y/a and their best OL just retired.

The running game was awful against Buffalo and the "end of season" thing was really just a run of horrible opponents.

Stats don’t tell the whole story.

Watch the game verses Buffalo. Rivers as washed as he was kept defenders in the backfield that gave a below average running back core more breathing room.

Literally no defensive player respects Carson Wentz as a passer. A former ALL PRO Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel Wentz needed to be benched because he can’t throw.

Colts will not win more than 7 games because Carson is one of the worst pocket passers in the league and has lost his running ability to keep defenses on their toes like Lamar Jackson does right now
