1. What will the Cowboys do with Dak and how will it work out?

Jerry signs him to a 5 year 210 million dollar contract. I'm only predicting this because Jerry usually folds.

2. What should the Cowboys do and what would likely happen if they did?.

Let him walk. Bring in a vet QB and draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd and probably suck for awhile. Better that than going slightly below to slightly above average every year.
Who’s the vet QB you want them to bring in? You yahoos don’t care about winning and think QB’s grow on trees and you just pick one off.

Questions:

1. What will the Cowboys do with Dak and how will it work out?

The Cowboys will franchise tag Dak. There will be no trade interest. He will still have lingering after effects of his injury when training camp opens. He'll go on IR or PUP for the start of the season and concentrate on getting back to 100% rather than playing poorly with the after effects. He'll enter free agency without having had to play much and fresh without a seasons wear and tear. Will sign a 2-3 year contract with another team, but will never excel and drift out of the league after a while.

2. What should the Cowboys do and what would likely happen if they did?

Not sign Dak and allow him to leave. Draft a first round QB plus sign a veteran temporary starter. Cowboys would win at least 1 x SB during MMs current tenure with the young QB. Meanwhile Dak will sign a short term deal elsewhere, not play well and drift out of the league after 2-3 years.

1. What will the Cowboys do with Dak and how will it work out?

They will sign him to a 4 or 5 year deal in the 38-40M range and this will stunt the growth of the D because they're only average in the draft, at best.

2. What should the Cowboys do and what would likely happen if they did?.

Non exclusive tag and let his agent seek a deal to establish his market value. Then they can match or take the 2 1sts and rejoin the QB hunt.

The unknown in this is what if the value of Prescott is not what even the Cowboys think it is? How do they handle that, offer him less? His value under the non exclusive tag carries 2 1sts with it. They let him walk and his value could increase once that is removed.

What if there are no offers to him while he is tagged? That ankle could be a concern for most teams to offer up a long term deal.

Did you not read the last line? I could see if you snipped it out, but you didn't. The vet. QB doesn't matter. He's just there to prep the rookie to take over.

  1. Dallas under tag
  2. Dallas under contract
  3. Panthers
  4. Bears
  5. WFT
  6. etc
Dallas is by far the most likely, but the two next best 2021 destinations were the Rams and Colts...and they are off the table...imo.
Panthers, Bears, WFT, Saints (cap issues), Steelers (cap isses and Ben), Miami (have Tua and if anything, want Watson)

I agree they will franchise Dak, but will shop him around for trade interest. Do you really think they will just let him go as a FA and get nothing in return. ? And Dak will hang around the league as a backup and sometime starter much like Colt McCoy, Winston, Bridgewater and other career backups. Nothing wrong with that, you can make good money, which is his primary focus. If he is someone's full time starter, it is with a bottom tier team.

He will get tagged and play under it for a second year.

Dak has virtually no incentive to sign a long term deal right now. The Cowboys would have to blow him out of the water and that clearly isn't going to happen. Dak is financially much better off to just wait until the financial situation in the league improves. On the other side, Jerry has made it clear that Dak is their guy. They aren't going to trade for, draft or sign a QB.

This is telegraphed so hard its difficult to fathom. The only thing that is in question is if he gets the exclusive tag or not.

What rookie?

Dude, some bum. A bum that will be an embarrassment. I admit that. No one is coming in and replicating Dak. I'm not delusional. We're not winning any super bowls with Andy Dalton unless we have the 2000 ravens or 2013 Seahawks defense. If they sign Dak to like a 6 year deal, and the TV contracts spike, I can see an opportunity on the last half of his contract. There's our 3 year window. But other than that I don't see an upside whether or not we sign Dak. So I'm not saying we're better off not signing Dak, just that it most likely won't make a difference.

I’m glad you admit it. But I disagree and don’t give up so easily. They can sign Dak AND a couple of key FA’s on the defensive side or OL and be right there competing for SB’s. We’ve got some 2-3 yr guys that are starting to show some promise.

I'd love to have your optimism, but I'm looking beyond signing Dak. Which is part of the reason I said the last half of the contract. You have to look 4-5 years ahead if you sign Dak. We have 8 starters that are up for extensions right now. With 20 million in space we're not signing them and Dak, let alone key free agents. I just don't have the optimism. I could be wrong and I hope I am. This is a very important year going into the 2021 season. Lets see what he does. Our short term future will be clear once he decides who he wants to sign and who he will let walk. This is besides signing Dak. Dak is not a one man army, he's a team mate. No team, no success.

Ok I will bite LOL Im going to be optimistic LOL
1. What will the Cowboys do with Dak and how will it work out?
The Cowboys will give in and sign him to a 4 yr $40 million yr contract. Dak will come and be rusty at first but then he will go off in the second half of the season taking us to the NFC championship.

2. What should the Cowboys do and what would likely happen if they did?.
Cowboys will try to be cute tag him then no one offers more then a 4th for him. We draft a QB cut Dak and he will go to a team like the WFT and win the division leaving all of us fans wondering why the Crap just happened.

TBH I think we can win with Dak even after his injury Dak has improved every year He is a hard worker and he will come in and show he is worth the money. If Dak is smart he will sign and allow the team to put more talent around him on defense. Dak knows this cant happen if he handicaps us on the cap. Maybe do something where this year will be a low cap hit and rise up when we get a higher cap ceiling.
Dallas will restructure some contracts to help sign a good defense player to help us out before the draft.
I will tell you that nobody loves the current QB situation in the NFC... least,, more than Dak.
This cat is loving it.

There going to have much more than 20 mil in cap space. Upwards of 80mil is more like it. And they’re not going to even try to sign many of those 8 because they’re not going to be worth what they’ll be able to get somewhere else. The new TV deal is going to make those years at the end of Daks deal be affordable.

1. Dak and his agent hold firm on a 4 year contract; Jerry tags Dak for the non exclusive tag. Dak and his agent gets to see his worth.
2. Dak will get an offer from a team desperate for a QB and yes after seeing what teams are giving up he will sign a deal. Jerry will take his picks and move on.

Actually it is likely that Dak and his agent will ask for a 3 year contract. The 4 years was based on when the current Television contracts were said to end. If that is indeed the case then it stands to reason that one year closer to that event will see Dak and his agent asking for 3 years.
