I'm absolutely stunned that this team hasn't played in so much as a conference championship game in a quarter of a century.

What could possibly be the problem?

Just the thought that he'll be positioned in places of real influence that he doesn't deserve off of tenure, that he didn't deserve, and family (*luck) and not merit.

Other than that... what issue? This team runs like a well-oiled machine.
90% of NFL teams are family run and operated off nepotism. Who would be shocked by this development? Having said that, he's starting from the bottom where he should if he's trying to learn the business. He grew up within the organization and has a better understanding of how it's run than anyone coming off the street. He didn't leapfrog over anyone to get the position.

Agreed. Not shocked at all. However, the difference between Cowboys and other teams is there is balance so you don't have the "family" making all of the major decisions on the football ops side of the house. GMs and/or VP of Ops are hired and generally left alone to run personnel/coaching decisions.

We should then focus on the 10% who don't run it off nepotism. They would probably be the Chiefs, Pats, 49ers, Bills, Rams, Packers...you know, teams that are contenders right now I would mimic them instead.

BTW, if nepotism had to be done, i would agree with Charlotte running the team, i feel she would do the right thing and get a real GM, and real HC...she would control the other parts of the Cowboys and leave the football part to the professionals.

Nah they’re run by nepotism too. Most of these are recent winner teams though. Nepotism always comes out when people are losing. Packers drafting Love? Niners loving Jimmy G, and are now like “nahhhh,” Rams all in on Jared Goff then trade him.

Packers dont have a single owner - have fans who are shareholders. This is how a small town team survives. Shareholders > single owners.

By coincidence, the most successful soccer team in history - Real Madrid - has a similar structure to the Packers - fan shareholders instead of an owner.

This is the kind of nepotistic BS that has ruined this franchise. What has shy accomplished to earn this opportunity? Now, he'll get to warm a seat and learn from his mediocre kin, and pretty soon, he'll be assistant GM.

I see another generation of incompetent , entitled Jones's.

You realize the owner of each owner of those organizations sans Packers and maybe Pats are next generation owners, meaning their fathers owned the team previously. Only team on your list with consistent success are the Pats. They've had some recent success, but let's not act like these teams aren't run by families and haven't been in the bottom pool of teams as long as the Cowboys. Don't be a prisoner of the moment.

It is not who owns the team that is the issue. Its who runs the football operations of the team. Most owners are hands off and their kin do not make football decisions. The cowboys are very unique in this regard and it is not to our benefit......

I would hazard a guess that there are tons of family members running these organizations behind the scenes. Even football decisions, but we don't follow them that close to know who is doing what. All we see are the faces in the media. With the Cowboys, we concern ourselves with scouting assistants and interns. And as fans of the teams, it makes sense. But let's not act like nepotism doesn't run rampant on these teams. It's the way the NFL is built.

Does Brian Schottenheimer get a chance without Marty?
Does Britt Reid get a job without Andy?
Does John York run the 9ers if he wasn't married to Eddie Debartolo's daughter?
Does Kyle Shanahan get a chance without Mike?

Just saying, this is one of the most normal things to occur in the NFL. At least they didn't put him in some true decision-making role. Breaking down film is where he should start.
