I don't think Dallas will get two firsts. Why would a team invest multiple premium picks and a ton of money if they haven't seen him play post injury? Other teams will also know if Dallas is shopping Dak they have to move him.

Yes but a team like Chicago might be tempted to make a deal with him and make the trade so that they can have him signed before they trade for him...if Chicago would be the team. I don't think Dak plays this year on the TAG...no way. This would be suicidal for Dallas to allow them to play on the TAG and seeing him just leave. The Gamble is too high. You would be left with nothing buy maybe a 3rd round Comp pick. I think if you tag him you better decide to trade him right before the draft because if not teams will already have their QB Room and it's very hard to bring a QB in so late in the off season. I think the March Deadline is important. If he signs it...you trade him as soon as possible.

Dak was a miracle away from being 0-4 in 2020...
You mean the Cowboys were, not just Dak. Dak and the offense put up 32 ppg, although too many fumbles, and the defense gave up 36 ppg, so it was the overall team that was failing. As for the “miracle”, clearly Dak was a big key to that happening.

Slobber more please. I swear some of y’all act like Dak is your boy toy.
If you can lay out an intelligent case, please do so. Most people will consider what you have to say if you do that. If all you can muster is lame insults you just make yourself look bad

WRONG.

Dak has proven beyond a question of a doubt that he is a $32 - $35 million/year dollar QB.

No QB in the NFL is worth $40 mil / year.

Indeed.

If Dak wants a shorter contract it needs to be compared to Mahomes (4 @ $34.66m AAV) or Watson (3 @ $32.91m) or (4 @ $34.03m).

Why or how Dak should be paid more than Mahomes in 2021-2024 is pure fantasy football.

The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott reportedly haven t made any substantial progress toward a long-term contract extension ahead of the 2021 NFL season, and ...

The host and Arrington are correct. I have been screaming this for years. Pass on Dak’s big contract. There will be instant regret.

How in the hell can we make such a claim. Anyone is worth what the market bares.

35 million this year is 45- 50 in a couple years.

Not based on AAV over the next 3/4 years.

There's NO QB averaging over $40m for a couple of years.

For contracts covering the next 4 years you get:

Mahomes - $34m aav
Watson - $33m aav
Tannehill - $32m
Goff - $26m
Wentz - $24m

Those are the comparative contracts. Dak (or France) is trying to make his comparison with the 'market' of aging veteran contracts - Ryan, Wilson and Rodgers.

The Mahomes -to Wentz parameter is Dak's market.

He has progressively gotten worse. He has trouble reading defenses, accuracy issues, coming off very bad injury. I will say he can read a soft or prevent D. He is an average QB and not one that you overpay.

Dak is better than Goff and Wentz

Based on what? Goff has been to a SB and has been and won in the playoffs. Wentz had an MVP season the year the Eagles won and without him they likely don't even make the playoffs. What has Dak done? Has he consistently helped the team make the playoffs? No, he is 1-2 in playoffs and consistently shows bad QB play when he runs into teams that have better than average defenses.

Dak lost to GB in 2019 and never played PITT in 2019 so what are you talking about?

He's....all the way to 2016.

Then the Cowboy should also have let Romo walk too when he asked for elite money.

My view is that Dalton sucks.
Dak is really good but very expensive. So as I rule Dalton out as an option except as a backup,
I view the options as
1) pay the hefty price for Dak and rely on our draft picks to boost a terrible D
2) let Dak walk, trade most of our draft picks to move up for a QB, try to sign Dalton as backup, and use the extras money for FA D players.

Looking at it that way makes it a much tougher choice in my opinion. I don’t think there’s any way the Jags give up Trevor Lawrence but if you think one of the other guys can be the man...maybe you can get that trade up done.

Disagree on Dak having trouble reading defenses.
