Dak in 2020

A lot is being said about Dak's gaudy stats last year and it is worth visiting those numbers.

In the five games Dak played in, he threw 4 ints and fumbled 3 times. The numerous Cowboy mistakes made them play catch up all/most of the games. Dak threw a lot of passes against bad or prevent defenses last year. He did not have to face the Commanders front 7 either time. The Cowboys went 2-3 in those games needing a miracle to beat the lowly Falcons.

Yes, Dak put up some huge yards in those games. I like Dak, his skill set and his leadership.

With that said, giving him 40 mil per will put this team squarely where it has been. Average.

If the Cowboys can get a first and a third(or more), you need to avoid cap disaster. Dak needs help to win and if anything 2020 proved that.

I agree with you, but I figured on getting grief for not giving him credit for that game. I know he didn't win that game. Hell, the Atlanta game is a loss 99 out of 100 times. So, essentially he could easily have lost every game he started.

If I am Dallas, I don't sign him to a long term deal this year. No one knows what player they are going to get with Dak. He has played great at times and he has played horrible at times. After being beat up in the ATL game a few years ago, it took him nearly a year to recover and he wasn't even injured. He may never be the same player again with the injury he suffered.. he might be though, but I wouldn't tie up 150-200 million on a maybe.

People love to cherry-pick Dak to validate the opinion they have already formed of him, positively or negatively. Quoting his stats selectively proves nothing, good or bad.

The body of work suggests good, not great, QB. The rest of the team says subpar defense, mediocre special teams, and arguably the worst front office in sports.

This team isn't going anywhere, Dak or no Dak. A lot of it won't be his fault, but that will only become apparent when the team still falls short when he's gone. The same thing happened with Romo.
