1. His asking price must be too high again

2. Mike M must not have full faith in him, as does Stephen

Both go hand in hand.

If they thought he was the elite QB, some here believe, he would get whatever. Mike would let it be known, "bro, we need this dude by any means"

I'm not a Dak fan, but ready for this to be over.

Trade him or just out right let him walk.

If the reports are fact, it is now a 3 year deal. They wanted a 5 year deal last year and his agent is counting the tag year as year 1 of a 4 year deal, which is all he wants. From the get go, Todd France has been pointing to 2024 as a FA year for Prescott. He doesn't seem to want to come off that.

If that's the case, they're better off tagging him and making other plans past 2022.

But why? Why be so stubborn and want 5 years instead of 4 and now 4 years instead of 3?

Just give him his 3 year contract. In the end it may be a blessing for the Cowboys.

Good luck finding a decent QB unless you draft one. Which will take another 1-4 years to fully develop. Trade for and give up some picks but who is really out there besides Cam? Either way you slice any young or established QB on Dak level or higher will be asking for 38M or better. Andy Dalton isn't the answer and we all know that. Right now this team is wasting time and money. Be a grown up and move on from this situation.

Either way. They need to draft a QB.

Nothing like still fixating on a pay day years down the road after you watched your ankle snap in half.

Turning down market price for a life changing amount of money when you aren't all that great and have yet to win a thing is just pure greed.

Not to mention you can't pass a physical.

It really may be time to think about moving on....if you're the Dallas FO that is.

Keep an eye on the Cowboys cap room. If another 20 million opens up you'll know they're looking to tag Dak. But I don't see a tag coming.

Everyone and their uncle (except a few Dak jock sniffers) know he’s not an elite QB. There is no IF

the only question is whether the Joneses have the backbone to take the proper steps

Then same criteria for Aikman & Romo. They too weren't elite. They were average. Were not accurate. Needed talent around them.

He is betting on himself, yet preventing the team from getting better around him.

Just so he can maybe cash in again....when he can have that money now.

I mean really....what does he think he is going to get in 2024??

50 million a year? 60 million?

Just add that to the end of the 3 year deal he wants now.

No, its not guaranteed but neither is the idea that he will be able to cash in again in three years.

What if he snaps that ankle again and can't play?

What if the league comes up with something to stop these absurd QB salaries?

What if owners simply stop giving out these insane deals?

I'm not at all understanding what he wants in three years that he can't have now.

And that appears to be where we’re heading with this unless there’s some kind of awakening before March 9th deadline.

And for those who are wondering why they are wanting FA in 2024 is cause 2023 is when the new Collective Bargaining agreement is up for renewal and there’s always been a sizable increase in the players share and Cap. And would be an excellent time for your contract to be up for renewal.

If we got a deal done in 2018 like we should have before his Rookie deal expired and France came on the scene then we could have had the 5 year deal we wanted. If we had real football guys running our franchise they’d of known by then if he was our guy and not waited until his Rookie deal ran out.

If a deal can’t be had the Jones are going to be crucified and rightfully so. At least here locally. We have some that want to fault Dak and France but it was our hesitation early on that has brought us to this impasse. We didn’t hesitate with some of our other big contracts but we have with Dak and it’s going to cost us either in salary or losing our Franchise QB. Totally mismanaged by our dysfunctional organization!!!!!

if Jerry comes out and says he will do right by Dak because they think of him as family, thus letting him walk and getting nothing in return, then I think I may be done. It would be a terrible business model. To answer the question as to why Dak isn't signed, its simple really. ANSWER IS TODD FRANCE. Dak has been misled and misrepresented woefully. Greed and the iron fist approach by the agent has taken over again. Until that changes drastically, he won't be a cowboy. The only option soon may be to tag him and find a trade partner Dak feels good about so he can start for a team. Seattle is starting to make some sense actually. Hard to believe, but Wilson is starting to look like a cheaper option than keeping Dak the longer this drags out. Question will be what will it take. The most I would do is a 1st round pick in 2022, a conditional 1st in 2023, and a couple players..ie like Jaylon Smith and or Zeke. A package like ZEKE AND DAK coupled with a 1st in 2022 might be enough to land Wilson. It helps both teams NOW. Plus we would hold onto our picks mostly so we can fix the D.

all he has to do is be patient and he maximizes his contract, as long as others sign. His agent is trying to get him paid the most. If he plays on the tag again, and then signs in free agency next year, he maximizes his earnings. The agent knows this. He knows this.

Dak might be playing with fire if wants 3 years and then cash in again. He is betting on himself which I applaud but if he stinks it up, doesn’t improve, or gets injured again, then no team might sign him. If he does well then good for him and deserve another contract. He and his agent has to know then the guarantee and APY salary should be significantly lower than if it is a 4 or 5 year deal.

Dak is obviously trying to extort money up front now and the agent is behind it. This is out of character for Dak. I truly do not think its him doing this.He is getting bad advice.

Agree. I don’t think Dak is doing this but his agent. His agent promised his new company that he will deliver a big contract with Dak and has not delivered yet. If the reports are true that Dak wanted to sign the contract last year but it was too late than I believe Dak wants to be here and it is his agent who is holding him back.
