You're preaching to the choir on the defense winning championships. Yes you used the best example with Mahomes so now I'll use the worst example on college QB's that were all hyped up as the next best thing since sliced bread that turned out as a bust. The very first pick in a draft was a QB named Jamarcus Russell by the raiders He never made it through his rookie contract and was already out of football.
Now the ravens are the only team to win a Super Bowl with a average or below average QB, Dilfer, but they had a record setting #1 defense. Now with signing Dalton and his zero for 5 record in wildcard games and also WASTING draft picks on a QB so the Cowboys can spend a reduced cap on cap casualties who's price may come down a little but not enough to be able to sign all the players needed to turn their defense into a top 10 defense because they wasted their top couple of picks on that QB. That reminds of a time when the WFT went out and bought all of the top defensive players they could one year hoping to turn their 16th ranked defense into a top 10 defense. They signed Bruce Smith and 3 other top tier defense free agents and that season their defense went from the 16th rank defense to the 18th ranked defense proving that going out an buying the best defenders doesn't always work. I would be all in on signing a defense free agent if the Cowboys were just one player away from having a top 10 defense but we both know that's not the case. Like I said, stick to Madden football.
