The Saints are trying to trade Brown so his salary would go with him. Miami is releasing Van Noy because I guess they think he is overpaid. Teams have to get down to $182M. None of us know what Van Noy can get right now. I doubt he is getting what Mia signed him to. My guess is in the $5-8M with incentives. One could easily sign Van Noy to a $5M cap hit first year.
you sure? because you are tuned in with NFL agents and know the market so well!!....Miami's defense ranked 20th last year.....and is he just another name people on this board heard about, like McCoy, Poe, etc.

like I said, good luck with you building a defense and having Dalton lead the offense...

This is an opinion board. People opine and guess and predict. Of course, I don’t set the market. I am pretty confident no one is signing Dalton to $20M. Care to opine on the QB market?
yes, I am....you just made zero sense because you are playing fantasy football. you just said the QB market for below average QBs is around 20M, but you are going to sign dalton to a 3M contract and spend 35M on signing a bunch of 5M players....like I said, you are playing fantasy football. you are welcome to your fantasy football opinion.

Colts, Panthers, and 49ers overpaid. Garappolo and Bridgewater are being dumped. Brisett will get a fraction of what he got. Mariota has no trade value since he makes $10M and had $10M in escalators if he is starter. Raiders tried to trade him but teams don’t like the contract.
Ok it doesn't matter that they overpaid.

But again, that's not really the part that matters. Even if you're right and you get a QB for $5m, your entire premise is wrong.

You did not read correctly. Go back and re-read. As usual, you are confused.

'your entire premise is wrong' says the person who is wrong.

Would like to get Brown, and there should be other attractive trade opportunities coming up. However, doesn't the Dak situation need to be resolved first?

If so, Jerry needs to get something done, so the the team can build.

/You know though.....what is a honest offer I'm kind of confused here lol.....he's not a elite DT.....but he's very good.....how much do I have to trade to get that type of player? 5th Rounder?
I’d say 4th or 5th
He’s not elite and he’s not as good as Tomlinson

You are going to see a lot more of this as teams are figuring out how to get their caps in shape for the lower cap totals.
This could be a wild FA year
It would be a great year to have a ton of cap space

Significantly cheaper than Tomlinson will be though.
That is true
But significantly less impactful
At the right price though, in a pick, he may be a good option
Till we get Dak figured out we really can’t go after a expensive FA I don’t think

I wonder is this a situation like how we got Robert Quinn...a team desperate and will take anything to get rid of his contract? Can I get greedy with a 6th rounder lol? I'm essentially getting him on a one year deal and he can leave right afterwards right?

Free agency is going kind of like how I expected. With the drop in cap this year, *and* poor revenue for owners, teams are squeezing players off their rosters.

Seems like a lot of players are getting moved or "asking" to be let go. The real fun will be free agency. I'm betting that the effective pool of free agent money is *way* down this year, and so contracts for free agents will be way down.

At least until any new tv contracts come in, which probably bumps up the cap this year, or at least allows teams to shift cap hit to future years with less worry.

Big time buyers market this year. Again, at least until new TV contracts. The market could flip on a dime to a sellers market at that point.

Only issue thus far is that there aren't really many buyers lol.

So far its overpaid guys or aged veterans getting cut. Still early though.

Breese can barely throw a football.

Darnold is a young guy with 4 years experience who has never had anything around him.

His talent and the QB friendly environment he would walk into would lead to success imo.

Didn't Brees retire?

bridgewater, a very average QB got 21M, tannehill, slightly above average got 29.5, Foles, a back up got 8M, Fitzpatrick got 5.5, he is on his 7th or is it 8th team...

watson got 40M average, Wilson is about 36M (signed three years ago?), goff, wentz about 33M, two years ago, alex smith 23.5M, grapolo got 27.5 two years ago, tyrod taylor got 11M.

seems that average QB salaries for average QBs is about 20M or more....the upper echelon is 33+, and top 10 this year is in 40s....

Dalton got 3M and that was too much for him.

sounds about where the market is......
