Those number cutoffs are arbitrary. There's nothing statistically significant about any of them.

Watson is an elite talent. Dak is an elite talent. I'm just saying that those "4th QB to ever..." numbers don't really mean anything.

Agree Watson is elite. Think Dak is right below him but still great. I don’t find the numbers arbitrary at all. Read the article. They guy lost his top WR, had no RB and D and was still this efficient. Youd be fitting Dak for Canton if he did it. Watson had the best season in their franchise history.

According to Pro Football Focus, Watson took his game to the next level in 2020. His regular-season passing grade of 92.5 was the 19th-best regular-season grade recorded since 2006, when PFF began keeping complete statistical data for the league.

To put that in perspective, anything above a grade of 90.0 is considered historically great.

This is bonkers.

Mahomes is head and shoulders above the rest of the league, and Brady is barely in the top 10 right now.

Brady went through Brees, Rogers, and Mahomes as an underdog in all 3 games on his way to winning his fifth Super Bowl MVP.

He threw 50 TDs last year including the playoffs.

Brady is clearly number 1.

What is your point exactly? I'm not arguing that Watson wasn't great last year.

Agree.

Dak and Watson are on the same level - solid 6-10 range behind:

1. Brady
2. Rogers
3. Mahomes
4. Allen
5. Wilson
Herbort has already played himself into the 4 spot, and Burrow is right there also. Times a changin'.

I think Allen is about the same level as Dak/Watson. Very close.

Nope. Barely top 10.

He wasn't even particularly good in the playoffs other than basically the first half of the Super Bowl.

Keep in mind that right before Watson's draft he spoke at some event in Texas and only half jokingly asked the Cowboys to draft him.

I wouldn’t call it arguing. I just posted stats in this thread because I think in many peoples head here they saw 4-12 and thought he just played a running QB who was just throwing up junk and relied on athleticism with no real QB ability. His numbers were outstanding. You don’t seem to be one of the people it was geared to obviously but I’m not sure in that situation we assume Dak does the same. And again, I think Dak is great. I just think people have a false notion of Watson. That’s it. Thanks

Nope.

Brady remains #1 until somebody knocks him out of that position.

He’s 2-0 against Mahomes in the playoffs.

He threw more TD’s than Mahomes.

What Brady accomplished last year with a new team and no preseason was just incredible.

Winning matters.

And Dak has never had the defensive support of any of the QBs in your top 5. Brady and Mahomes would get about twenty more possessions per season on takeaways alone. Or the legendary 2014 defense Wilson won a super bowl with in Seattle.

Do you think Eli Manning is better than Dan Marino?

Do you think Eli Manning is better than Dan Marino?

Now you are just being silly comparing Tom Brady to Eli Manning.

I do thank Eli makes the Hall of Fame though, based on his two Super Bowl victories over Brady, even though he only has a .500 career record.

Eli’s 2 Super Bowl MVP’s are meaningful.

Answer the question. It's very easy if your only qualifier is "winning matters."

It’s this simple. If you like Dak, you like Watson. They are virtually the same QB with Dak slightly edging him out because of his brain and arm. Dak is a bit more football savvy, and his arm is stronger. Watson has had to run for his life every year, and play from behind most the time. those two things will cause stats to go places they normally don’t have to. Dak got some help from good QB coaching including a year of Romo. Watson is good but it’s crazy how all of a sudden he’s on the level of a Mahomes, Wilson, and Rogers. Why is it that in the year 2021 all fans only look to yards passed to see how good a QB is. Dak is going to cost 40Mil, and Watson is going to cost 40mil and some major picks. I swear this is a group of 14 year old Madden kids in here trying to act like they know something!!!
So which QB had more passing yards? That's probably the better QB, right?

Dak has more brains the Watson huh? Watson is trying to get out under a lunatic owner and his weird friend while Dak is still negotiating with a lunatic owner and his weird son. Watson is a Heisman trophy winning national champion. I know that’s not any qualification to validate smarts but what exactly has Dak done for you to say he has more smarts than Watson? As far as I know Watson doesn’t have questionable photos leaking across the internet. I’m not an advocate for Dak not being signed, but I’m not going to sit here and imagine a world where Watson is the same player as Dak. Watson is maybe a notch above Dak. If the Cowboys wanted to trade Dak for Watson, you better believe the Cowboys would have to throw some picks in that trade to.
But.....it was Watson contract, contract demands that put team in salary cap hell

As Dak will do.....his support leaves.....Houston Deja's vu all over again...with no trophys

Such as?

I'm not saying he does or doesn't. Just wanted your (calm) take.
You don't know what leadership is? My God. I'll tell you, leadership is the ability to lead a group of people to accomplish the mission. Sounds simple right? It's not. Not everyone is a leader. And there are all types of leaders. But the bottom line is can they get the group to accomplish what they are supposed to accomplish. If you have low morals or a terrible work ethic or a condescending narcissistic character you're not going to be able to lead squat.

Well...so much for "calm".

I didn't say *I* don't know what leadership is. But now we're reduced to a big fight about that. Good job.

I (politely) asked for YOUR take on it.

Gotta love the zone. People itching for fights sheesh.
