WFT has had problems with their Cheerleaders and players and skirting the non fraternization rules and such for so long. There has been drama behind the scenes for 20 years or so with cheerleaders, players, and team representatives.

Looks like they're modeling this after the NBA

In a statement, team president Jason Wright said the team wanted to create halftime programs similar to those in the NBA. Pope spent 33 years in the NBA, starting with the Los Angeles Lakers as the manager of the Laker Girls. She also started the Knicks City Dancers. She has also worked for the New Jersey Nets and has served as a consultant since 2016.

Yep, totally a Snyder move. Like Walmart closing stores that go union.

Completely retaliatory but let's be honest, all cheerleader squads are exploitative.

You can have a cheer team AND a dance team. Not sure why they would discontinue the cheer squad.

The Cowboys wouldn't do that because they already have a dance team called the Rhythm & Blue dancers.
Went to a Giants-Cowboys game a few years ago @ AT&T -can't remember what season...but it was a 3:30 start in Sept\Oct (Guy Fieri was doing a cooking demo as part of the pregame festivities). Saw the Rhythm & Blue perform outside the stadium - it was a 4-5 minute performance of sychronized modern dance moves to a music mix (hip-hop, rap, etc.). Equal number of gals and guys on the squad.

The Rams, however, did change their on the field cheerleading squad 2- 3 years ago - they added a couple of guys to the group.
Washington franchise no doubt made the move in response to the allegations of sexual harrassment throughout the organization; but they are following the path started out in Los Angeles.
Don't know if any other NFL teams have followed suit.

Snyder was inspired by the movie...

Replace their football roster with a coed roster and it might improve the team.
