Honestly if the cuts are this big Dallas COULD try to go bold by trading Dak and 2 1s to Seattle (that would be the cost) to get Wilson, then use the money saved (Wilson’s cap his next year is small) to go all in in FA and try to go for something big.

I'd love to get Wilson, I just don't see that trade as possible. Seattle is 11 million under the cap. They'd have to sign Dak and eat a 39 million dollar dead cap.

Even though Wilson's cap hit is small, it would still eat up most of our cap space. They can make room, but I highly doubt enough to sign someone big.

DLAW cap number the next 3 years is riduculous. 25M in 2021, 27M in 2022, and 29M in 2023. I'd say he's a prime candidate to get cut. He just makes no difference. Not sure how you can rebuild a defense around his cap hit. He is the Dak of the defense. Overpaid and not making any difference.

Who could be the surprise cuts on our end? Teams with money could possibly build something specia if this goes down like they are predicting.

Around the league...except the Boys...Jerry has to hold all his Jaylons to his bossom and hold them tight.

your gonna take heavy ridicule on this board for that statement..but know what? Your not wrong. We could help the defense by cutting him and saving massive cap. Or I would trade him firstly.

lol... I know.............and I like DLAW. I think he's one of the few guys playing well. We need to trade him, not cut him. We need one of those khalil Mack deals and get 2 first round picks for him. We might drop a little in qaulity at RDE but 25M and some draft picks goes a long way toward improving the overall defense.

Yep. So what do we see? Players sitting out a year thinking the cap will go back up and wait for more money or take less from an other team this year to play?
You’ll see a lot of very affordable 1 year deals.

There isn't a whole bunch of guys that could be cut to free up money right away.

Tyron Smith could be cut pre june 1st, which would free up 5mil, but then LT becomes an even bigger need.
Chris Jones seems obvious and they can gain 2 mil.
Ant Brown can save 2.75mil, but we also may be left with no depth at corner, and his cap hit is reasonable for his play.

they aren’t cutting TSmith.

agree totally. We could spread the money around and help other areas.

With as much work as needs to be done on the D that is an idea; if we can get enough for Dlaw do it. Edge rushers are valuable but when the Defense is in the shape ours is we might as well.

Bottom line we have to replace like 5 starters for certain; and probably 7.

and they still won't be players in FA

yup.....3rd most money to spend in the league....and they want to dump most of it in a gimpy QB that they are not sure will even hold up in a 16 game season. Just the dumbest plan ever....if they go forward.

Thing is....I think Jerry is saying all the right things to make it seem like they want to sign him....but it reality....It's gonna end up a one year rental on the franchise tag.

Agreed.
This should be a no brainer for a true GM.
There's a joke in there for everyone that enjoys a good laugh.
You'll see it... lol

Who would trade for him? He has base salaries of $17, $19, and $21M for 2021-2023. That contract is toxic. No one is trading for him.
