Trade possibilities

Some cowboys fans "Dak sucks or Dak is average he cant be a difference maker"

but the mature fan understands there are other factors in play such as:
  • there is a limited supply of QB's who even give your team a chance
  • even average or slightly above average may be significantly better than what the interested team has had in years (wouldn't us cowboy fans "overpay" for a the same in a Free Safety or 1 Tech?)
  • one man's trash is another man's treasure (it all comes down to evaluation and even amongst the guys who do it for a living there is wide disagreement about players)
  • if a team believes their window is open, they feel compelled to take the best shot available
  • all it takes is one team to convince themselves its a move they want to make
  • possible return increases if more than one team is seriously interested.
  • another team may be more willing to give Dak a contract that gets him what he wants. if so, why wouldn't he agree to those terms as a sign & trade?
point being that no matter exactly how I evaluate him, I can see arguments & possible scenarios that another team might give up a great deal to acquire him. I can also see why he might get his feelings hurt on the open market.

I could see the bears trading for him. They traded for Cutler and Dak is more popular than Cutler. I believe they gave up a 1st for Cutler and some other picks. I could see the Bears trading 2 first rounders for Dak.

So you think the Bears didn't learn from the Cutler experience?

As the old saying about being fooled goes....

Sure, how many different trades, etc. have been done by NFL teams over the years? Dumb trades like the Saints giving up every pick they had for Ricky Williams, which didn't work out, or the Saints getting Brees despite a severely damaged shoulder, that worked out well, or the Broncos getting P. Manning despite the neck problems, that worked out well. How about the Eagles paying big bucks for Murray, which didn't work out well.

Dak can win 3 SBs like Aikman or never get there like Romo or White. (And please don't jump on the first part of the statement, I'm not saying I believe Dak will win 3 SBs, just making an example).

Despite what the "experts" here say, we can't say....

His reputation among football fans is that of a rube, but the Vikings organization probably felt differently while they watched him collect on the deal he negotiated that cost them millions and millions of dollars:

https://www.twincities.com/2012/06/...mike-lynn-made-the-metrodome-his-sugar-daddy/

exactly. he wasn't a rube. he got bamboozled but in fairness no one had ever done what Jimmy did and i don't know that anyone has done it since so i can't throw too much shade. i never talked football with him. i was told he was a little salty over the it. i regret not at least trying.

So many people just don't understand the fine point that Jerry does want to win SBs, but he has to do it his own way. The "if he really wanted to win he'd fire himself, etc." statements just don't recognize the person that is Jerry Jones. They try to make Jerry think like they do, but Jerry ain't them...

Jerry wants to win more than any of us. The haters say, "all he cares about is money" but they ignore the obvious that the more the team wins the more money he makes. I don't think they're stupid but that they just love to complain about something all the time.

Dak has no trade value since he will be an unrestricted free agent in a year, if not sooner.

Once Dak is free to negotiate with other teams he will get the big $ he is looking for.

The Cowboys will be in purgatory picking over QB scraps.

Lol, never underestimate a poorly run organization. Booger and his son taught me that a long time ago.

Yes. I’m not sure why so many posters are so “emotional” over Dak. There is 1. what Dak will probably get paid and 2. What is the maximum amount you can pay Dak without crippling your team. #1 May be significantly more than #2. Just because someone is willing to pay Dak a certain amount does not mean it’s a good idea.

Also keep in mind that what works for one team may not work for another. Rosters are different. Players play in different schemes etc. Also, some teams have more cap room than others.

That’s very true.

Most football experts believe the market is two firsts for Dak. The established pro bowl QB market has been very high this offseason. They would be selling when QB starved teams are watching others overpay.

Most football experts? That term always makes me laugh. But anyway, I find it hard to believe a team would part with 2 first round picks before seeing him back in action after his injury.

sooo....Dak's not good enough to win us a super bowl...and sure as hell not worth $41mil per.
but he's good enough to command the #2 over all pick.
wish to hell you people would make up your damn minds.
if he's good enough to command multiple picks or the #2 over all pick.....isn't he good enough then to keep.

Teams win super Bowls. Dak isn't Mitch Trubiski, he's plenty good enough if you surround him with the talent needed. Talent Dallas isn't close to having.

Why on earth would the Jets take on a QB who wants a mega contract AND give away the 2nd overall pick when they can draft a rookie QB with the 2nd pick and have him on the rookie salary? Sure, drafting a rookie is always a gamble, especially QB, but I think it’s a gamble most teams would take in that scenario.

2 1st’s for Dak? Lol, not happening. Again, the Bears could most likely take those two firsts and move up to get a QB they want, why take on a huge contract? Don’t see it happening.
plus Zach Taylor is getting great evaluations currently

I think the Panthers would be a target, if they would agree to give Dak what he wants.

I would expect two firsts for trading Dak. He is the same quality as Stafford, and younger. Would also take a high first and a good starter.

How did Jerry lose when Dak got injured? If he signed him for 40 million a year for five years with a broken leg and deteriorating OL and RG, talk about losing..
Yeah the national media is saying the Cowboys are making a mistake if Dak plays on the tag this season. I think Dak is making the mistake by not signing a long term contract this offseason. What if Dak gets hurt again or he does not play great. The only way he will get the so called Mahomes money is if he plays like Mahomes 2018. That is a big gamble.
