There was one of these a few months back that still had Wentz at one but Dak at 2.

Sorry guys I had to.
Edit title should have been "According to NFL.com...."

Pick 1 Los Angeles Rams
Original No. 1 pick: Jared Goff

Dak Prescott
QB, Mississippi State

Prescott was amazing as a rookie and he's reached at least 3,300 passing yards and 28 total touchdowns in every full season he's played. And he was absolutely crushing it last year before his injury. The guy's good. You almost worry that he was so good as a rookie that he would have saved Jeff Fisher's job, resulting in the Rams never hiring Sean McVay. Maybe Goff was the right pick here after all! I'm kidding. But I would like to think about that for a future podcast or something.

Pick 4 Dallas Cowboys
Original No. 4 pick: Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott
RB, Ohio State

The Cowboys selected Zeke here in real life. And I would say that it was a smart pick. Even though the "running backs don't matter" crowd still hates it to this day. But Elliott has been good for the Cowboys. The guy did lead the league in rushing twice, rolling up 1,631 yards and 16 total touchdowns as a rookie. It hasn't been Zeke's fault. I would still make that call today. Like, do you think the Cowboys were a Jalen Ramsey away from winning a Super Bowl?

I hated the pick then. I still hate it. no one should draft a RB top 10....its the easiest position to assess and easiest to adjust in NFL and they will have immediate impact. anything more than a mid level contract should be avoided, and you can just go back and draft another RB or have RB by committee...to waste the 4th pick on a RB and then give him a second contract making him the highest paid player...that was absolute stupidity.

How is Derrick Henry 15 and Zeke 4? Honest question.

Depends on the criteria you are basing it on. Henry couldn't touch Zeke's numbers the first couple of years, while Henry has easily been the superior player the last couple of years.

If you are looking at what they did right after they were drafted, then you go with Elliott. If you look at where they are now, you go with Henry.

Elliott has rushed for 524 more yards (6,384 to 5,860), but Henry has a better average (5.0 to 4.5) and more TDs (55 to 46). I think it's closer than a lot of fans think, because they can't stand Elliott for some reason, but the edge goes to Henry because he's really skyrocketed and he wasn't used as much as Elliott early on, so he couldn't post the same kind of numbers. (Of course, it's also reasonable to say that if he was used as much as Elliott early on, he might not be posting the kind of numbers he is now.)

Zeke was drafted for Romo. Of course with Dak bring cheap and Zeke’s mobster first year with this OL, the Jones thought they could win by paying less money. But Dak has turned on them, thinking he’s not only on Romo’s level, but apparently right besides Mahomes.

How about if we were playing do-overs, we start Romo with Zeke running like a mad dog in 2016 behind this monster OL, instead of wasting the latter’s career baby-sitting Dak’s progression into garbage stats performer?

Do these guys remember the 2017 Dak, six game suspension Zeke, 2018 minus Cooper led by Dak?

Henry is generational. That being said, his career really took off post Mariotta. The year they traded got Tannehil, the first five or so games, Henry was largely ineffective.

Zeke’s first few years, he was carrying this team.

Not sure I'd speak of either of them as generational yet.

Yes, Henry has had three straight years of great production, including his 2,000-yard season (5.4 average) with 17 TDs last year. Lest we forget, DeMarco Murray had an 1,845-yard season while he was year and had averages of 5.5, 4.1, 5.2 and 4.7 here before going on to flame out in Philly (but bouncing back for 1,287 yards and 4.4 avg. a year later in Tennessee). For comparison, Henry's averages the past four years have been 5.4, 5.1, 4.9 and 4.2 ... very similar to what Murray provided before his drop-off.

The best thing that can said about Henry is that he seems to actually be improving each year, which means that he could reach that generational description if he doesn't hit a wall. The one thing that might work against him, as with Zeke, is that they are physical players. Wear and tear can take your legs out quickly.

Wow the worst linebacker in the history of the league would be drafted at 20. The writer of the article knows nothing.

Gee every draft would look different if they use 20/20 hindsight. This is just another foolish off season waste of time.

no doubt, but at this pace Henry looks like an all-time great. The guy is a completely different specimen, at such a size he moves so fluidly, while upright and his ability to cut laterally still moving forward while looking effortless is amazing. Zeke likes to completely lower himself and punish, Henry just seems to keep going.

While true.....he's one of the few not this list that has a chance of being a HOF. That had to stand for something.
He isnt going to the HOF as of now sir.

He has a shot. He is capable and has the talent, but not the desire and its downhill from here.

By the time he matures enough to realize he tossed away the chance to be in the HOF his body will have given out.

Is that not what I said though lol? I said he is one of the only ones who has a "chance" of getting in. That's dependent on how he ends his career. If he leads the league in rushing and gets a championship that's all it will take. So there's a chance. There's a chance Derrick Henry gets in too. There's a chance Dak gets in. Its too early to tell now.

I mean its NFL related lol....its kind of cool seeing stuff like this for me personally to see the guys we passed up on or other teams passed up on. But at the same time I'm a fan of the draft process which I know some people hate so there's that.

True. Fair enough.

I very much wish he would find some sort of inner rage and make me and @aria eat a ton of crow.....but weed on the couch doesn't often make that all work out.

As long as he does it with the Cowboys otherwise I hope he fails miserably.

Regardless, it’s obvious he’s completely dependent on the O line. Without a top 5-10 O line he’s average at best.

Man...y'all would never eat crow on Zeke lol....even if he did well next year y'all would give credit to the offensive line lol.

If it’s a top 10 O line why wouldn’t we? We’ve all seen what happens when it’s not.

So when zeke gets 5 ypc with wide open lanes yet still can’t break big runs or tackles or make defenders miss then we’re supposed to give him credit for those yards and not the O line? Ridiculous.
