I like this scenario if we could grab Farley, flip our 1st next year and trade back into the 1st for Micah Parsons

Certainly would have the capital to trade back into the 1st round. Don't know where Parsons goes. Some places he looks like the best defensive players then there's concerns of him only being a 2 down LB which has dropped players in the past.

Pitts said the best CB he faced in his career was Horn

Horn had Pitts on Lockdown anytime he went out wide, but Surtain controlled him fairly well also, watch the Alabama tape; Pitts was manned-up vs. Surtain just four times. First time, Pitts gets away with an obvious push-off on Surtain as the slot fade pass sailed incomplete. Second time, Pitts gets 11 yards on a quick inside slant as Surtain gladly gave him a free release to guard against a deep route. Third time, slot fade, cleanly broken up by Surtain. Last time is the high-point TD over two defenders that everyone uses as evidence of Pitts beating Surtain, when in fact, Surtain wasn't man up with Pitts; he was just late-arriving shallow help for FR. CB Brian Branch, who got Mossed by Pitts along the EZ sideline.

Personally, I think he goes somewhere between 17-22

I wouldn't hate Horn being taken at 10 by any means. I just get the feeling that picking Horn over Surtain would be less about on-field performance, and more about draft buzz creating debate for talk radio. Lord knows there's plenty as we all start getting itchy for the big day.

Of the four that I consider legit options at 10, my order would go like this: Surtain, Slater, Horn & Parsons.

I love this kid's mentality.

If you have to go cover some of the most talented athletes in the world one on one in front of millions of spectators, you darn well better believe you're the best. I wouldn't mind at all if the Cowboys drafted him at all.

After a trade down with the New England Patriots, with the 15th pick of the 2021 NFL draft the Dallas Cowboys select...

Will Horn be there at 15 is the big question- I've heard some scouts have him rated higher than Surtain.

I like Horn's personality. However, it's worth noting that his style leads to him being really handsy with the guys he covers. Watch some of his tape, lots of grabs, a lot unnecessary, he won't get away with in the NFL.

If he's coachable he might just be right that he ends up having the most upside.
Jerry likes his guys "handsy". Part of his war daddy prerequisite.

I’m fine with him at 10 if Surtain was off the board and no trade down is possible. I like his moxie, but Surtain’s body of work is more impressive.

Uglier than a clam, uses clíchés to make a point, full of bravado and thinks he can be an instant star. Good luck in Cleveland.

It is worth noting because that's the way Seattle teaches their CBs to play. Sherman, most handsy CB you ever saw. Big, physical, always messing with you all the way down the field. That's this guy, Horn. To me, they are exactly the same in that respect but Horn is Faster.

Hes either gonna end up a complete stud, or eating his words. It's tough to pass on him. Hard not believe he's is the real deal. I think I'd be happy with either CB.

Even though i am for Surtain Jr at #10, i certainly would not be upset if Horn was the pick. I feel either one will do just fine with the star on their helmet.
Best case is if Bronco's make the decision for us at 9 and take Surtain. Horn is a no brainer at that point. I wouldn't mind either though.

It may very well be Horn. Carolina or Denver may take Surtain.

Full disclosure, I really liked Jones so there is a bias for me, in terms of my opinions on him.

So, what difference does attitude make at CB? How important is it, in terms of scheme? Well, it's the difference between your DC having a job or getting fired and winning or picking top 10.

It is a very risky business to "project" a players attitude, his aggressive traits, in accordance with scheme fit. The team didn't like the way Jones produced TOs. He was a very solid CB who played good coverage but he didn't create TOs and he wasn't very aggressive in Coverage. He played hip pocket, always in good position to make the tackle, so to speak. He was not really a Ball Hawk. Very iffy business to try and project that type of aggressive play to a player that hasn't really shown it in his play. I mean, it could happen but there is no guarantee it will. If you want that kind of player, draft that guy who has shown that this is how he plays.

So what do you want, coverage guy or Physical Press guy?
