Don’t judge your opinion based off media scouts

Don’t base your opinion of if a pick was good or bad based on media scouts. When the scouts that are saying a pick was bad because they’ve never heard of him shows they’re not a reliable source. None of the players that have been drafted are hard to find. All have been power 5 starters so far. So they’ve been on tapes of at least watching for other prospects and it’s not like they have no talent at all.

also remember the teams have so much more information than the media does especially when it comes to injury/work ethic, etc.

To me it doesn’t sound like they’ve got more than 2 starters next year, but we don’t know until at least the preseason games start.

So I don’t think anyone should jump for joy but realistically I don’t think aside from getting a FS, there’s many other picks that would have had a day 1 impact. If they get a 1T today I’d be thrilled.

If they just get more OTs, then at least that kicks Steele/Knight/etc off the team.

Also remember only the next two picks in the 4th round should even be hoped for to contribute. Anyone 5th round or later is lucky to even make the team.

All of this is true. The potential problem is that they had 5 top 100 picks. Those are the premium picks. Not saying it's set in stone by any means, but there is a chance they screwed the pooch on a bunch of those premium picks.

That's disheartening to the fan base. Of course the jury is still out on these players. But these aren't the guys anybody in here wanted.

Bingo. Premium picks = drafting for backups and depth. You basically are replacing guys like Armstrong with rookies

Then why is the front office supposedly on the chopping block if they’re just doing what Gruden tells them?

because Gruden is still owed 70 million dollars. He isn’t going anywhere. Make no mistake about it - Gruden is calling the shots with the Raiders personnel.

we're not. we're making an assessment based on 25 years of mediocrity and pattern observation. We've had a problem with selecting undersized DTs and we DO IT AGAIN. We've had problems with availability of our 2nd rounders on defense due to character concerns or injury and WE DO IT AGAIN. It's like we're literally not learning from the past.

Then we stuff our cupboard full of guys in the 3rd round that have no real name in college. Maybe Quinn is a miracle worker or these guys could go the same direction as a lot of our defensive 3rd or 4th round picks which is perennial backup if that.

Oh yea, let's not forget, yet again we're neglecting the safety position and look to be stuffing it with an injured guy or some 7th round pick

When does the team ever pick the guys fans here wanted?

Folks set themselves up for disappointment, year after year, then act surprised when Lucy pulls the football back again.

Yeah but a lot of them have history working in the league like Bryan Broaddus, Daniel Jeremiah, and Bucky Brooks.
And there’s a reason they don’t work in the league anymore. Broaddus was here when they went 5-11 three straight years and were drafting former baseball players to be QBs.

He said on the draft show two weeks ago the team didn’t like Parsons. Clearly he was lied to.

Exactly why I wanted them to trade 1 or more of those 3rd round picks for more ammo higher up for a better chance of landing a solid starter or potential franchise cornerstone. I have doubts any of our current picks will stick long with this team after 1-2 seasons.

While I'm disappointed S and 1T were not addressed, I'm willing to see how these kids look. As for the media draft experts, I doubt they base their opinions on much more than highlight reels. The reason they're on TV is either they're not good enough for any NFL team or they're just wanting a good paycheck for doing much less leg work.
