Front-office people said they were impressed with the drafts of the Cowboys, Chargers, Giants, Jaguars, Jets, Ravens, Steelers and Vikings, among others.

With linebacker Micah Parsons and cornerback Kelvin Joseph as their first- and second-round picks, the Cowboys were viewed as a team that added two high-end talents to its defense. One scout thinks Joseph was the third-best cornerback in the draft. He also believes both of the Cowboys’ fourth-rounders — linebacker Jabril Cox and offensive tackle Josh Ball — will be NFL starters. He said Ball could have gone in the second round.

That’s reassuring to read. I hope they’re right and I’m wrong about this one. It gave me 2009 vibes.

Oh but if I posted a negative review you'd be all over it.

Dan’s sources praise Cowboys draft haul...”

Cowboyszone’s reaction: “I’ve always liked Dan and his sources....now that’s journalism!”

“Dan’s sources are critical of Dallas...”

Cowboyszone’s reaction: “Who the hell is Dan? And if he’s not naming sources then it’s FAKE NEWS for clicks!!!!”

Its all a ploy to keep Jerry in the game. Most of them hate us. Keep complimenting him and bestowing awards on him and he'll never leave.

I'm the only voice you should trust when it comes to Dallas' draft reviews.
:muttley: Getting anything of value after round three is a major plus. And we got a couple of players on the backend that could help out down the road. So if you add that to our first three picks, I'd say we had a very good draft. Why, because pressure makes diamonds.

We're over loaded at a couple of positions of need, which creates competition in camp. That added pressure on Hill, Gallimore, J.Smith and LVE should produce some high quality performances this season. So even if you don't like this draft, you should love the competition it will create.

There's certainly a subset of members for which that is true. There's another subset whose reactions are the reverse of those two.

Gonna have to watch some tape on Ball....I just remember him @ FSU....and he seemed like his feet were stuck in mud. So who knows....maybe his head wasn't screwed on right @ the time.

Things change....

As for the rest....Hindsight is 20/20...could have made a couple moves in my opinion. Letting Trevon Moehrig FS TCU...get snagged right before us...stings.

Could we have done better?????

1/12. Micah Parsons LB Penn St.
2/43. Trevon Moehrig FS TCU (From SF)
3/75. Paulson Adebo CB Stanford
3/84. Tommy Togiai DT Ohio St.
3/99. James Hudson LT Cincinnati
4/115. Joshua Kaindoh DE FSU
4/138. Kenneth Gainwell RB Memphis
5/179. Ben Mason FB Michigan
6/192. Deonte Brown LG Alabama
6/227. To SF
7/238. Khyiris Tonga NT BYU

My guess is the Bengals’ and Raiders’ scouts were quite jealous of our ability to pick all character red flags.

Honestly, it seems like an efficient portfolio draft. Tons of risk grouped with some high floor, high character guys in the 3rd, 5th and sixth.
