I've heard a number of people complaining about this pick.. This guy blanketed pretty much anybody he faced and reportedly sports blazing speed enough to run with anybody including Tyreke Hill. People seem bent outta shape over the whole "rap career" thing.. which I suppose might be a thing.. but unless his music gets a lot better he's not going to make enough money from it to quit football. He's hardly the first player to have interests outside football.. Given the receivers the Eagles and Giants drafted and let's not forget McLaurin in DC having a guy who is as fast as any of them can only be a plus. Watching how effortlessly he runs stride for stride with the Bama Heisman trophy winner is eye opening to say the least. I'm looking forward to watching teams try him deep.. cause I don't think it's going to work out that well for them..

For me, I thought the Cowboys would get at least two of Horn or Surtain. So I didnt do much homework on other guys. Then the disappointment of watching Moerhig go right in front of us was too much to bare. When the pick came out, most of it was about how he was an attitude problem and a risk being kicked off a couple of teams. Then the rapper thing.

I didnt like the pick. But as things have settled down, I have done more research, watched interviews and film, the kid is definitely growing on me. He definitely has the talent. Im even starting to get convinced that even if Moerhig was there we should have taken this kid.

According to hearsay he has character issues, which can be easily confused with confident and cocky. I like the pick and have no concerns about his limited Rap Career, limited time at LSU or any other nit picking traits that seem to remarkably surfaced in the past week. All I want to know is if he can play, and I think he can. I certainly see him getting under WR skins this year, which we have been missing in this secondary for awhile.

I think people will start to love him when he get multiple pick 6's.

The issue largely surrounds questions about his departure from LSU and then pulling the plug on his UK season in late November. He got into trouble that earned him a suspension from the LSU bowl game. Then there was months of back and forth about whether he would transfer or not, which he eventually did. The UK opt out was weird in that on the day Joseph announced he was stopping to focus on the draft, Stoops had come out earlier that day saying no one on UK was opting out. Then after the press conference, Joseph came in and said he was opting out.

There are also questions about his focus as he's a prolific rapper who has put out numerous albums. Some teams questioned if he really will be focused enough on the field and that his bailing on LSU and then UK shows that.

I don't think he has any real character concerns like you see with the kid from Marshall we took in the 4th round.

My reservations have nothing to do with talent or interests outside of football.

My reservations are toward his supposed character issues. Two programs saw him as a bigger headache than he was worth, despite the great talent.

The original post here is sort of disingenuous. It’s very clear what the concerns for this player are

Spot on. This guy just doesn't get beat deep plus he reacts quickly and in great position if they run a quick slant or out. He is in the tier with Horn and Surtain and the only reason he fell is "character" concerns.

Talking about Smith for Alabama, Joseph shut him down. Now some will look at the box score and say Smith went off but watch the film and you will see Joseph gave up 0 catches against Smith and they moved Smith away from him.

Good thing there is no transfer portal in the NFL.

his commitment to Rap vs his commitment to football that's my only fear with the kid. Otherwise hes every bit as good as the front runners that were mocked to us

The talent is there
The question is more about priorities
You can’t be a great player if you don’t love the game
And I’m not talking about his rapping but part of the love of the game is doing what it takes to be in the game

Not like this is the only off field issue with Joseph but I don't have time for players who think they're recording artists. I want them completely focused and obsessed on football. Live it 24/7. You only get so many picks in the draft and these are the guys I want on my team.

No one questions the talent. That's obvious. It's the baggage that would have made me look elsewhere.

But if he drops a diss track on Prescott I'm willing to change my mind on the pick.

I really like the pick but I think the questions some have raised run deeper than just the "rap career" thing. He was suspended before the bowl game and then left LSU, there have been questions about his practice habits which combined with the "rap career" thing left some wondering how much he was devoted to Football, he hasn't had a lot of game experience (6 games the last 2 years?) and before/right after he was drafted some of the comments were about him not being great in "man". Luckily for us he won't be playing as much "man" as he would elsewhere. Again, I really like the kid, but I do think there was more to it than you are assuming for some

His Rap work can't be any worse than Beasley's. Look forward to seeing what this young man can do.

You definitely have a future in Hip Hop. If I were you I’d drop everything else and go drop some mad beats.

I'm more concerned about Joseph because his issues are recent. I think it's fair when he's leaving one team then opting out on another to question his commitment. What Ball did was bad, but it also was four years ago. Four years, especially for a young man, is a long time and a lot can change.
